I'm looking at upgrading from my current 52" Sharp Aquos LCD to a 60" plasma. My set is in a very brightly lit room and the Sharp has been outstanding when I do daytime viewing - which is mainly sports and some gaming. There are multiple large windows right next to where the set sits.

In the evening, the Sharp is nice, but after going to look at the Kuro's, it is definitely not in the same league in terms of blacks.

My concern is how the Kuro's will perform during the day. Are they bright enough? Is glare going to be a problem?

Glare will not be be much of an issue.
That being said, glare is a little different than performing in a daytime lit room.
Glare is a direct reflection and the 9G kuros have a very good anti-reflective coating on them.

the 151 performs very well in bright conditions. Maybe not as well as an LCD with the backlight turned up, but close.
The goal is to keep direct sunlight off of a flatpanel television no matter which one or technology. And when I say direct sunlight I mean direct sunbeams, not being in a room that is lit with sunlight.

My 151 performs wonderfully during the daytime.
There is only one time of the day when it bothers me, and thats when the sun is rising. And this is because the sun is in the east at this time, which puts it directly facing my sliding glass door. During this time, if I open the blinds the sun will be beaming directly on the panel. And when this happens I just turn the blinds a tad to keep the direct sunbeams off the panel. NOte: I had to do this with my Sony matte screened LCD (XBR4) and the Samsung 71F lcd also.

Chad - I am in the same situation as the OP and am going back and forth between Plasma and LCd for the very reason - glare!

I am coming from an older 42" Panny and the reflection due to sunlight is horrifying :( I woud love a Pioneer Elite/Kuro but that's not a price range I can be in unfortunately so wondering how the Panny 800U's were in this regard.

After thinking LCD is the way to go, I am now deliberating seeing inherent issues like off-angle viewing and the fact that some of the nicer LCD's (Sammy 650) have a glossy screen that may not do much in the way of glare anyway....

I have the same issue, except I am considering the 111FD for this room over LCD. I had planned to get a LCD but am now leaning towards plama.
