Hello to all,

I have a question that I am hoping someone canhelp me answer. I have a BD 808 and I am tryin fto find the best means in hanging it. My ceiling in my basement does not have 2x10 studs to accomedate this task. It looks more like thin particle board attatched to some 1x2's. I had to stop the process of the theater as I am now in serving a tour overseas, but would like some input how maybe I can resolve this situation. i would like to stay away from a floor mount as I have limitedspace already for the room which is only 19Lx12W8H. I have access to a welding shop here so if someone has any schematics or rough plans for a mount that my ceiling would support, I'd be very greatful with your assitastance. Wanna put this thing in action in 2009. Thanks in advance.

If you have what looks like wood I-joists, then there have been several threads about this. Here is a link of one that I jumped in on.

An alternative to beefing up the I-joists would be to add in three 2x8" joists in between the existing I-joists to carry the weight of the Barco and be idependent of the floor (and foot traffic vibration). (Block the ends so these joists can't twist.)

I'd simply employ two rails of Unistrut slightly wider then the Barco 808, that would bolt up to two rails of Unistrut (90 degrees to the screen) attached to the three newly installed joists. This would give you forward/back adjustment and the ability to level the projector.

Skylooker1 and Tedd,

I'm no engineer but I used Windows paint to simulate what I think the both of you are talking about. If I am right, then this should not be a problem once I return. The first rendition is a view from the bottom looking up with no unistruts attatched. The second is a side cut view with unistruts attatched how I think Tedd told me. Let me know if this is acceptable for the mount.

I believe what Tedd is saying is to run the 2x8s in the same direction as the I-joists, independent (not touching). So they would insulated from foot traffic above. They would be even on the bottom, but not touching your floor decking.

I know this may not be in the right area, but what do you guys think about this setup? I pieced it together over a span of 4 years. Please feel free to comment as I can take criticism pretty well.

Well with nobody giving me any views on my sytem (besides Tedd), maybe it's not worth keeping most or all of the equipment except the 808 and starting from scratch...
