My riser is only five feet deep. It's fine with a regular couch, but I want to get recliners for the front row -- and I'll feel like a schmuck if my guests in the back row cannot recline, too.
I'm read through what feels like EVERY SINGLE spec sheet from Berkline, and NONE of their chairs can handle a 5 foot space from what I can see.
Can anyone recommend some comfy/first reclinable theater seating that costs about the Berkline price range, but can fit in a 5 foot space when reclined?

Nathan,
I'm not sure how you feel about ordering online, but I know that 4Seating.com has some that will "fit" into a 5' space. Off the top of my head I know the Excalibur seats are 48" at first stage and 55" fully reclined. I'm not sure if you can make it stop on the first stage of recline or not. But, even at full recline you can fit them in 5'.
Cheers!

Thanks! I am not thrilled with ordering online BUT after searching locally for nearly a year, and finding a few overpriced imperfect seats, I'm getting "over it".
These dimensions look workable, and the price is okay if they are well-constructed. Do you have these seats?

Keep in mind that no matter what dimensions the chair manufacturer puts on their chair, when you put 6 ft person in a nearly fully reclined position you need a little over 6 ft of space.
Is there anything you can do to extend the risers dimensions? Can you move the front row up a bit?

Alas, moving the front row would be tough. But I am thinking that the back row folks may not want to fully recline often. (Not sure why I think this except that the angle of view when reclined on a riser might not be great.)
But your math makes sense (too much sense) so I almost wonder whether getting recliners in back is a good idea.
Maybe just chairs with feet rests.... but then I want the chairs in front to recline AND match the rear row. Or maybe I just place the back row in a way that they cannot recline (hit the wall) so people can use the foot rest but not recline them.
An alternative could be putting the movie theater rockers that usually do not require more that 4' of wall space.

I second that motion. I don't think anybody would feel short changed if you offered them a really comfortable rocking theater seat.

Yeah, a few rockers might work well. I guess I'd need to get ones whose arms go up, because some people like the extra space. Are there any with foot rests?

how about some ikea footstools. Just repaint the legs to match the rocker

I like the DIY and money-saving idea, but since the riser is only 5 feet deep, I think a separate foot stool (or 4 or five of them) would be problematic. Better if there is a chair that has them built in, that "folds away" when not being used, so people can walk the aisle.
Of course, I may be dreaming. I cant think that I have ever seen such a rocker/theater chair.
