I've been kicking myself ever since I missed a local deal on a Barco 1209 for $500. Now a Sony 1271 (8ish tubes) has come along - and I don't know whether I ought to hold out for a higher-ranking model or go for this one. At what price would you lot give it a go?

I got a 1252 in spring 07 for $200. It included the wired remote and a 100" Draper screen. I feel that the value of these sets has dropped since then but I'm not completely sure by how much.

Thanks for the tips guys! Most helpful! Man, not only did I miss that Barco/Runco, but I missed a Marquee at about the same time too. I just keep dropping the ball on this stuff - and without your help in estimating a fair price, I fear I might've leapt upon this deal too carelessly, just out of anxiousness to finally get a projector.

Well if you went ahead and got it and paid a little more, don't worry about it. Just use it and enjoy while you look for a better one. Then if it's a while before a projector deal comes your way, you'll have this one to tinker with and enjoy meantime.

Don't worry about it, especially if the 1271 cost more than around $150. Heck there's a guy on Videogon who can't give away his 1252q. The value of these machines just isn't what it used to be. As an owner of a 1270 and a Nec PG, I would hold out for an EM focus set, the PG was much sharper(imo) than the 1270. However it probably wouldn't be noticeable in movies as much as video games, which is what I used mine for more often.

I purchased a high hours, though the picture still looks go to me, 1272 for $100. It did come with the remote and part of the mount.
