Hi,
Just took out my PG xtra from store after my XG broke down.
I can feed anything above 480i. Any resolution above 480i it start to blink or flicker. Please advise is there any pot I need to adjust. Maybe increase the horizontal or vertical etc.
thanks

Be careful adjusting pots on that set. Some if they have dirty contacts will fry a board, and the ones in the back should never be touched. I assume you are using the RGBHV input. It should automatically lock to higher frequencies. Does it show the image but blinking? On my 6PG I've adjusted the oscillation pots on my deflection board before, you can try this. However I'll be honest and say I'm sure how good of an idea this is. They are the on the front right section of the board.

Hi Marcus,
I have a 9pgxtra and a 10pg, and have had them for years. I'm not sure about your technical level and experience with CRT projectors, so I'll assume this is a first install for you. (Sorry if I might have insulted you if this is not the case.) My suggestion? Don't touch ANYTHING inside the unit until you know exactly what will happen if you do. There are lethal voltages inside, and touching the wrong thing CAN kill you! Tweaking pots at random will almost certainly convert your nice projector into a boat anchor.
A few questions first:
1) Was the unit working correctly before it went into storage?
2) Was the unit set up (I.E. calibrated, converged, etc.) for THIS installation? Was it installed in your HT before you bought the XG?
3) Do you have the manuals?
4) Do you have the setup remote?
Based on the limited info you gave, it sounds like your unit is not set up with a proper signal entry for the source you are using. Assuming everything else is OK, you need to do a complete projector setup, in the correct order. To do this you will need the manuals and the setup remote. Without these items, you are basically wasting your time, and stand a good chance of really screwing up the unit.
A good source for info on CRT projectors is www. curtpalme.com. If you have not been there before, spend some time looking around, and download and print the Projector Mecahnical Setup guide.
One other thing to consider, although some in this forum may take offense: it may be time to buy a digital projector to replace your XG. Here's my logic. Not everyone has the expertise and patience required to set up a CRT pj properly. Even if you have lots of experience, it takes several hours to set up the pj properly. Novices can have real issues and lots of frustration. If you do not have the skills, you can hire a professional, but the expense can be considerable. A new digital projector can be installed by most careful, handy folks, and will give you a decent picture. The cost of a professional setting up a CRT (if you can find someone!) can meet or exceed the price of a new mid-range digital projector.

Hi,
Thanks for all your help. Actually I have 2 PG 9 extra, once is working the others is spoil. I mixed up the 2 so I though why it doesn't work. However I manage to get the other to work now and keep this for spare.
Once again thanks for all the help.
Extra xtra's are always a good idea!

If you do want to fix it, it will be the Deflection Board, or System board.
You could swap from your other Xtra to find out. Just beware that if you swap System boards you are running the wrong settings, so things could be a little strange...it's a brain transplant ;)
