I'm leaning towards Epson's TW4000 as my next projector (assuming the reviews on it's performance are what I hope they'll be) and I want to get a rough idea of what kind if issues AVSers might have had with prior Epson 1080 projectors.
I know there's this thread on convergence, but I wanted to ask about the projector's quality in general.
First hand experiences are very welcome, if anyone has any praise or criticism of Epson projectors to share.

I chose the first option.
It's worked fine with some minor adjustments (color was way off at first). I've had it since August, and have put some 300 or so hours on it so far (this projector replaces my old TV in the family room). Lighting isn't a problem for most things once all the window blinds are in place. Dark movies or video games have to wait until the sun starts going down. I'm considering tinting the windows that face the sun in the afternoon.

I voted for the 2nd to last option.
Convergence was acceptable on 2 of the 3 units I checked, well 3 out of 4 if you include the demo at the dealer I saw. Pictures on the internet make the convergence problem look much worse because they are so close to the screen.
My problem was color uniformity. I had to have a 2nd replacement projector sent to me, but this one is good in all catagories.

I had my review comparing UB to Sony VW60. You can find it here:

There is quite a bit of information regarding quality of the unit compared to Sony “Black Pearl” in my review. You can not ask about projector’s quality in general, because everybody has different expectation level and people would have different opinions even if they were using exactly same projector.

My Home Cinema 1080 non-UB has the "rainbow text" problem using the HDMI input, as likely every one of them does. I have not (yet) tried to exchange it because I do not think the problem was ever fixed. I am still waiting for a further response from Epson, but I keep leaving a message every month or so and never get calls back.

First option for me too,
No problems at all, checked with DVE HD DVD.
