A few weeks ago, I posted in this thread (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=14680105&highlight=#post14680105) that the second bulb on my PT-AE700 popped. I just ordered a new bulb, under the assumption that there was no problem with the projector itself. It is set to arrive tomorrow.
Yesterday, on a hunch, I tried the first bulb that I ever had (not the one that blew) with the projector. Now, this bulb is dead, which is why I replaced it, and my second bulb worked for about a thousand hours before it blew up. Contrary to my hopes, the bulb was not magically revived. However, something happened that worried me: when the projector was powered on, the lamp light kept blinking, which according to the manual means an "Abnormality in the lamp circuit." The suggested remedy for this problem is not "replace the lamp" but "contact your service center."
Does this mean that my projector is damaged, perhaps from the popping of my second bulb? Or could the indicator be wrong about this "abnormality in the lamp circuit"? As I wrote, the projector continued to work when this bulb was replaced. But I'm hesitant to try my new bulb when it may not fix the problem as I may not be able to return it once opened.
