View Full Version : HD1000U - Bulb warning flashes at startup - can this be stopped?

I've loved every minute with my HD1000U for over 19 months, however it started flashing a bulb warning yesterday when I turned it on. The bulb seems just as bright as ever, no problems so I think it's some preset warning when the hour counter reaches some number.

Can this be turned off? Is there a workaround? I don't want to see that every time I turn on my projector and I don't want to just buy a new bulb when the one in there is working fine.
Thanks!

You can reset the lamp timer and it'll go away. The steps to do so will be in the maintenance section of your user manual. Manufacturers warn that lamps can explode in the unit if they're run longer than the expected life, which is entirely possible, but not very likely.

Did you try the lamp hours reset in the menu?

I don't remember where that is in the menu, I looked around a bit.
Hmmm... where did I put that manual???

How many hours on the lamp?

I can tell you exactly how many hours the next time I turn it on, that will be after I find out how to turn off this warning.
I think it's about 2300 hours.

Well, according to the manual the warning comes on at 2250 hours so that's probably what it has. I've reset it, won't know how it works until later tonight.
Thanks!

if memory serves me, hit the left arrow, right arrow and power at the same time

Yes, that was it all right.
All working fine again, I know I'm tempting fate to say this but...
My PJ is working just as good as ever. I'm sure there must have been a drop in brightness over time, but it's been so gradual I really have not noticed.
I tried switching it to "Standard" from Low power last night. It's definitely brighter that way, but I don't know if I like it that bright.
