OK so I am a while off from buying a new HDTV set... and really my old CRT set is still lookign pretty damned good. I recently picked up an XBOX 360 and already had a PS2 hooked up on to the component video input I wanted to use, so I tried to go the switchbox route which got really old really fast.

I only have two component inputs for HD stuff in to my set :( one of which is taken up by my HTPC and I'm not putting that on a switchbox.

So forgetting my PS2 component cable was a older universal one (PSone/PS2, XBOX, XBOX 360) I decided to try it out hooked up to both the XBOX 360 and the PS2 at the same time. Mind you only one will be on at a time. So I turn the XBOX 360 on and the video looks great but some of the audio seems to be missing. so I unplug the ps2 and all the audio is back. so I shut off the 360 and turn on the ps2 with the 360 plugged in still and hear no audio and the video looks faded :( I unplug the XBOX 360 and turn on the PS2 and the video is vivid again and the audio is back.

So now I have a PS3 coming and more than likely I'll be ditching the PS2 but still will be stuck using component...

Has anyone used any of the newer universal cables like this and got it working without problems?

My receiver is older as well and doesnt have component input so I can't do the switching there either :( am I just SOL and have to stick with a switchbox until I get a new set and can start using HDMI and component and VGA?

Get the one from Monoprice. Problem is you can't have them all plugged in at the same time. Only one at a time. If you do, you'll lose signal, like audio in my case.

I have mine plugged into 2 and it works. You just can't have both on at the same time. The monoprice works great and is cheap.

what systems? and have you noticed any diffrence? as I said I didnt at first on the 360 but then when I unplugged the PS2 I noticed sounds missing that I now heard.

On the PS2 side I noticed off the bat there was no sound and the picture was darker lol, but once unplugged it kicked in full. I was even able to do this while the ps2 was still on (unplug the 360)

Yes only one was on at a time.
