Re: Remote Control Codes for using Yamaha YHT-290 Home Theatre System HTiB (HTR-6130 AV Receiver, RAV283/WN05810US Remote Control) with Motorola DCT6416 III DVR/HD Cable Set Top Box with DRC800 Remote Control

It is not difficult to set up the TV, DVD and CD player codes in both the HTiB and cable remotes. However, I have had no success in setting up the HTiB code in the cable remote or the cable box code in the HTiB remote, which is unfortunate because one almost needs a remote control in each hand to watch any cable TV through the HTiB.

From the DRC800 remote itself I have ascertained that the cable box code is 1376 (the same code used for my older DCT2000 and DRC400/425 remote). When I try and enter 1376 into the Yamaha HTiB in any of the device selections I get the “RemoteSetup NG” No Good. Needless to say I tried many other codes as well.

Now from the other direction I have also been unsuccessful at finding a code to work both using manual entry and the semi-automatic “Searching for Codes” method using the Motorola RDC800 to search for a code that will work on the Yamaha HtiB.

Has anybody been able to find a code that works with either remote using this equipment?

Thank you,
Monty

Here is what I have leaned to date which may help some people, but unfortunately it hasn't helped my situation:

"I understand that you are having trouble programming your DRC800. I will be happy to assist you with this.

To get the remote to program with the DCT6416, you can use one of these two codes:
0276
0476

For programming the remote with your Yamaha product, we have these codes available:
0490
0539
0545
0354"

Thanks to a tip from another forum I now have partial success. The tip on separate Yamaha power on and power off codes gave me the incentive to go through everything again using "mute" rather than "power" to test. As it turned out the code 1276 works in the DRC800 to control the volume in the HTR6130. It doesn't control either on or off, but it was volume I wanted to control mostly anyway.
