Okay...cool, I will prioritize in this fashion. Now... should I consider starting the game over since I have spent some of my nodes on stuff like the flamethrower? I haven't spent a lot but a few. Enough to work through something more important, anyway. Also, I do kinda like the flamethrower but if I were to get rid of it would the game stuff randomly giving me that ammo? Does it only recognize what you are carrying? Another question... right now I have a lvl2 armor on, would any upgrades done on say a lvl2 be transfered over to a lvl3 or higher? I never did any upgrades on my lvl1 rig so I am not sure...obviously. :o

You don't have to start over, but wasted nodes are, well, wasted. As for the ammo, you're likely to get more of the type(s) of weapon(s) you're carrying, but not necessarily all of that/those type(s) if you've purchased others. So, say you had 4 weapons equipped and the ammo was coming in fairly equal 25% intervals, by stashing away two of those weapons that would probably get you closer to a 30/30/20/20 ratio, where the 20% would be for the unused weapons. Rig stats DO carry over, so get those second, immediately after Stasis is maxed out. The Armor (Rig) is absolutely a high priority!

Heheheheh. Well, this game and L4D are two different games. When there are hundreds of undead sprinting for me, I wanna deliver lots of hot lead down range. I played the demo over and over to get the hang of the controls before I bought this. I could tell that the rifle would not be the most effective weapon in the game so I have not bothered. The flamethrower was NOT in the demo so I was not as reluctant to purchase it. I still kinda like it but I will probably dump it. I DO absolutely love the Ripper. Not trashing that. Oddly enough, I did purchase it just for those 'close encounters'. ;) :p

Stasis = Staying alive. Ripper + Stasis = FUN! :D Flamethrower = "Sad in pants." :( The only reason to get any of the other weapons besides the Plasma Cutter and Line Rack is to get the 30-kill achievements. (Don't forget MING!)

I am glad you said that I should carry extra nodes for those locked doors cause I have found one so far and I used one to open it. I love to explore, I am always curious about whats in where in these games so now I know for sure that I should keep a spare. I will keep doing that. :)

There aren't any "game-changing" items behind the doors, or even anything "really cool," but what you net is almost always better than the cost of the node. I always ran with 2-3 extra. More than that shouldn't ever be necessary.

Cool. I won't start over but I will change the way I play a little bit. I will sell the flamethrower. It IS cool to torch stuff but it takes wwaaaaayyyyyy too much ammo to kill a single necro with it. I found it most useful for those tiny little hatchlings that swarm you from time to time. I will just step on them or something. I guess I will be less and less afraid of having these things touch me once I get my rig upgraded.

From now on if I do get flame fuel I will just sell it so if I find ammo I don't use it will just be money in mah pocket. :)

Thanks a bunch, fellas!

I have to agree, the ripper is a great weapon when dealing with some of these nasties. It's saved my bacon on a number of occasions.;):). I am only going to go through with three. Plasma cutter, Line gun and the Ripper. I figure it will cover all the bases. I have read of some people going through with just the plasma cutter. It must get pretty powerful when it's maxed out.

The flamethrower is by far the best weapon for those little hatchlings. You can also stasis them and stomp the heck out of them as well, if you need to save ammo.

FYI, I sold all of my air canisters the first round through. I didn't ever seem to be at a place where I actually needed one. Even though there are some times when you spend a decent amount of time in oxygen free environments, only one area was a bit of a challenge for me.

I have read of some people going through with just the plasma cutter. It must get pretty powerful when it's maxed out.

The plasma cutter is very powerful when it's maxed out - it'll pop a leg/head/arm off with a single shot. Of course, as you get deeper in the game, there are tougher monsters, so it's leveled up nicely. :)

The first playthrough I used the Plasma Cutter for about 95% of the game, with the 5% being a random mix of one-off uses of other guns. I didn't know about the plasma cutter achievement at the time... :(

This playthrough I'm going to use the plasma cutter only. II'm on Chapter 3 right now, and so far so good with the cutter only. I had to stomp out the hatchling creatures a few times, but that wasn't all that challenging! I still got nibbled on a bit... ;)

Well bummer, I just hit the Chapter 4 stumbling block. Ugh, I'd forgotten about this one unfortunate portion of the game. I gave it two goes last night, and now I realize I just need to set aside a good hour of time to try it over...and over...and over...until I get past it. :(

I think he's referring to the section where you have to use the mass driver canon to destroy some asteroids while your commander does repairs. It was by far the worst section of the game for me as well and took me a bunch of attempts before I got by it.

I feel for you buddy. Way to bring an exceptional experience to an obnoxious halt  It's a poorly designed segment, with a stupid setup, that is totally unnecessary. I hope Visceral learned from this.

But it's worth the effort as, minus this section, Deadspace is a great game.

I'm in agreement with you 100%. Now I've just got to grind past this part. I was able to at least get as far as hearing the "give me one more minute!" but I was all the way down to around 12% or something by that time and wasn't able to power through the rest.

Just have to get by this part! :)

From Xbox360achievements:

From: Sgt Dex Grif: This is the segment on Chapter 4 where you have to shoot down the asteroids before they hit the ship and is pretty difficult. Remember you have two guns, and you can hold down triggers, but the guns will overheat. Try to only concentrate on the ones headed straight for you and the huge ones that split. I noticed that some of the asteroids will fly off screen and won't damage you.

Chapter 5 help needed:

After getting the DNA sample from Mercer's office, I run back to the security station, but the door is LOCKED???!! Why? The map guide says to go there, but the door will not unlock. So I eventually run out of air.

Is this a glitch, or did I miss an objective that is not stated in the game?

I'm putting spoilers on in case anyone hasn't gotten this far yet.

This sounds right - you receive the sample, then simply turn and run back (you can avoid any creatures on the way, they just slow you down) the exact path you came in on. Just make sure you go back the same way you came in. The door should open and allow you back into the security station area - where there is a save spot. Right next to the save spot there is a life support panel thing - interact with that to turn life support back on. Air will rush back in and you'll be good to go.

Exactly, I did all that, but the door to the security station remains locked. Very frustrating. Guess I'll have to go back a level and hope it works next time. But that would mean asteroids again, geez.

Bummer. So you get stuck before you get back into the Security Station room, or do you get stuck after you get back inside and turn the life support back on? With the life support back on, you should have air and you won't suffocate.

I did a quick search online for walkthroughs and found the following;

Intensive Care - Dr. Mercer's Office

Head through Intensive Care and make your way to Mercer's Office. Grab his Audio Log, then activate the chemistry console inside to get the DNA sample.

You're getting close to the end, but the doctor still wants to stop you. After exiting the office, he opens up the vents in the area, creating a vacuum. There's not much to say except: run! Simply make a mad dash back to the Security Station the same way you came, running past any and all enemies you can. It's not worth it to fight them, as your air keeps dropping, and you'll just have to spend an Air Can anyway.

Security Station

Once back in the Security Station, head into the corner by the Save Station and switch on the Life Support console to shut off the vacuum. Safe and sound! Follow the path back through the Diagnostics Room and into Chemical Research.

Played thru a good portion of the game since I last posted. Just finished off the Leviathan. Holy cow! I guess I am about to start chapter 7 or so now. The part in chapter 4 with the astriods was pure controller crushing frustration there. At first when I sat down in the chair I said to my friend watching, "Oh great! Now I get to play Beachhead 2000....ugh! Why do all action games have to have one of these sequences?!?" Definitely brought the game down a notch at the time. Took me a few frustrating repeats. Thankfully you restart right there if (...when) you die. The ship had no problems avoided all those astriods before I got there. Glad I got past that part.

Do you get hit for more damage on the harder difficulties in this sequence? If so....ugh. :p

http://www.wowincevents.com/productcart/pc/catalog/beachhead2000_832_thumb.jpg

I'm playing through the "impossible" difficulty. From what I can recall (I haven't gotten past it yet - still stuck on it) I started at 85 shields. I'll have to check to see how much damage each impact has. Although the tip on this thread earlier said that some asteriods that go past you off screen don't do damage, it appears that most (if not all) do. Really a bummer.

Before. (And I did all those things you mentioned.) I'll try it again tonight, see what happens. Thanks for your help.

Sure thing, and good luck. I think the trigger to unlock the door to get back into the Security Station is when the vents close. Maybe something in that trigger is broken, since you shouldn't need to do anything after that.

I remember 2 things that helped me pass the Asteroid sequence:

1) Using both barrels on larger asteroids(LT + RT). I think this outright destroyed them instead of just fracturing them into smaller asteroids.

2) Switching to the mouse. I played Dead Space on PC :p

I so wish I could do that with the 360. As I tried this again a bunch of times last night unsuccessfully (aarrgghhh), I realized a bit problem is the bizarre motion/sensitivity of the cannons as you move them around to aim. It reminds me of the terrible cannon motion/sensitivity in GoW2, where there is an odd slow-to-fast snap that makes it challenging to aim. This is one area in Deep Space where I wish there was a little bit of aim assist.

I loaned my copy of Dead Space to a friend who was having a blast with the game...until he reached the asteroids level. That was about a month ago and he still hasn't been able to get past it (having a wife and child, he doesn't get to spend as much time gaming as some of us).

I've noticed that for a lot of players reaching that section is like hitting a brick wall (it took me 8 or 9 tries to get past it and I play a lot). EA should have released a patch by now that made that section a little less frustrating by either reducing the number of asteroids, reducing the damage they cause, or reducing the time it takes to make the repairs on the lower difficulty levels. As it is, it's driving some potential fans away because it is so frustrating compared to the rest of the game.

That's exactly what happened to me. I got stuck at the stupid asteroids. Tried for about 3 hours to get past it, and gave up. About 2 months later, I went back and beat it on the second try (go figure), but by that point I had lost interest, and I still haven't gone back to the game.

I share your sentiment, I put this back in last night to and voila - 2nd try I get by it with about 30% of my shield left. I've no idea how, but I could care less, since I'm past that horrible part of the game.

I totally agree, why not just release a very quick patch to make that portion of the game less difficult? Making it easier wouldn't make the game any less fun - it's not like that part of the game even follows the rest of the mood of the game (being spooked out).

Hopefully when Dead Space first came out their forum boards were buzzing with people complaining about it, and they've taken that into consideration for Dead Space 2!

Ok, I am having a real problem with this asteroid. I can't seem to plant the beacon in time. I have read you wait until the rings slide to the bottom(left for one of them), and when they move again, you make your jump. When I get on the asteroid and press A, it seems Isaac takes too long to plant the beacon. I have done this multiple times. Any ideas???

Ugh. I hated this part.

I walked to one of the side where the rings stop and wait for them to move, jumped to the spot that they stopped, and then ran outside past where the rings move and planted the beacon. From there I just waited until the rings were not in the way, ran back inside and jumped back down to the floor.

Thanks for the reply. So are you saying that the beams only travel on the inside , and that if I travel to the outer section I will be safe? I must have been mince meat a dozen times at least on this section. Needless to say I wanted to put my fist through the set before I quit.:)

That part was actually more of a puzzle, then a mini-game.

The trick was to focus on the larger asteroids to break them up, and focus on the ones closer to the center, then middle, and ignore the ones outside and far outside unless you had time to take them out after the more serious head on collisions. Most of the one’s on the far reaches of your screen would pass right by the ship, or skim it only doing 1% damage.

I was having trouble getting the achievement , but once you figured out the strategy it was a piece of cake.

Well my friend finally got past that level as well; his solution was actually pretty novel: he muted the sound so as to not be distracted by the commander's messages and other auditory cues, which he found distracting. Once he muted the sound and was able to concentrate on blasting the asteroids he got thru on his third or fourth attempt. Of course, he didn't realize he'd beaten the section and kept blasting long after he needed to.

Well, I am half way through chapter 12, and I have to say, this game is amazing! Better than Bioshock, and probably the best shooter game out there for sheer atmosphere. Even at the end, this game can still make me jump. I always start out playing sitting down on the couch, but end up standing up in front of the tv!:) Chap 10 was simply awesome.

I will be a little sad when it's over, but then again I look forward to my next playthrough...on hard this time.

I don't know if it's better than Bioshock. Dead Space can get pretty repetitive just moving around, whereas Bioshock kept things new with the varying special abilities. It's a great game, but I think bioshock had a bit more going for it.

Dead Space versus Bioshock? That's a tough one. BOTH are much, much better than; Mass Effect, Modern Warfare, ODST, Assasin's Creed, or any of the other ridiculously over-hyped and patently over-rated games out there, despite getting very little notice or promotion before they were released.

I think the story is not repetitive at all. I found the twists near the end completely through me for a loop. I didn't expect that at all. Bioshock also did that, but I still think the atmosphere in Dead Space was creepier, more immersive. I am not taking anything away from Bioshock. I still say both games are the best shooter games out there, as they recreated the genre, in my opinion. I just think that Dead Space edges Bioshock, by a nose mind you.;):):D

I didn't buy the level 6 combat suit (I think it costs 99K credits), but I'm pretty sure that it starts off without being upgraded.

FYI, the Tank suit is arguably a better suit, if you want to spend some real world dollars to download it.

I just tried to do the glitch where I keep my level 6 suit when trying to start a new game on impossible mode for the first time. Well it didn't work. I am not sure if I did it right.

I saved just prior to the last boss fight, skipped the credits, didn't save and started a new game on impossible mode. Should I try again from that last save? Also, when/if it does work, is Isaac wearing the glitched suit during the intro? Is that how you know it has worked, and if not, just try again?

I tried it a while ago too, and also failed. They never patched the game, so either I did it wrong, or it's one of those codes that somebody made up and it just keeps getting perpetuated do to the user-content nature of cheat sites.

The glitch does work. You have to start from chap 11 and not 12. Then don't save throughout all of chap 12, beat the game, don't save and restart on impossible.

You CAN save anywhere in chapter 12. So buy your military suit at some point during the game while saving anywhere you want. It's a good idea to save just before the hive-mind final battle. When you win and it asks you to save your progress, choose NO. If you choose YES the glitch won't work. Then immediately start a new game on impossible and you'll have the suit.

Well, I tried three times when saving during chap 12, each time at a different spot, except the end and it didn't work. I surfed other sites and came accross a post saying the glitch doesn't work if you save during chap 12. You must save in chap 11 and go through 12 without saving at all. The first time I tried this it worked.

Did saving in chap 12 work for you?

I'm churning through impossible right now - had to take a break because we moved - I'll check how many hours it's been and what level I'm at and get back to you.

I think I'm moving pretty fast through the game...not sure if I'll be close to the 8 mark, but I know that I've been going quickly through this round. The biggest reason is because at one point because I ran out of ammo and credits, and was having to hotfoot it past pretty much every monster I saw.

It's amazing how many sections of the game you can survive without having to fire a single shot.

Hey Juice, where are you in the game? I doubt you can hotfoot it past the Leviathan.;):) It took me a while to slaughter that beast. I kept running out of ammo. Finally beat it today. I sold a lot of line gun ammo for cutter ammo. I only used the cutter and pulse rifle to take it down. I am finding this a good two gun combo for me going through impossible.

What weapons are you using for your impossible playthrough?

The Leviathan was horrible. I got to him super low on ammo and wound up having to get by him by throwing his fireballs back at him and conserving ammo as best I could. It was an absolute exercise in frustration that I brought on to myself by wasting ammo earlier in the game. I can't tell you how many times I ran circles in that tube avoiding his tentacles! :)

I......think I'm just on my way back to the Tram on Chapter 8. So basically, I think I'm just about to start Chapter 9. I mean to check last night where I was and how many hours I've put in, but didn't get around to it. I'll have to give it a shot tonight.

What level are you on right now?

I'm trying to get the plasma cutter achievement this round (I didn't get it last time because I used it and the flamethrower). So far it's working really well. It's been a bit of a challenge for a few scenarios when I run out of statis (ugh) which has forced me to run around in circles so I can make every shot count.

Impossible mode is odd in this game. Fun, but odd. :)

Hi Juice, I am also on chap. 8. I walked into those two wall guys. Killed the first one, thinking that was it, walked around the corner and had my ass handed to me.:) That other one must have calved at least half a dozen of those little bastards and I walked into a barrage of barbs. Needless to say, Isaac was cut to ribbons;):D

I decided to stop there. I will pick it up again tomorrow. The problem is that I am low on ammo here, so I am going to have to take the first one down and see if I can stasis the second one and its offspring long enough to get by them.

So you are going into chap 9...the final showdown with the Regenerator is coming up...fun times:) Let me know how it goes! JoeB

Well, finished chap 8 and am into chap 9. On my way to get the singularity core. I am also just around the 8 hr mark(7:56 on my last save I think). It's going to be tight for my original forecast of 9-10.

So Juice, how are you finding it going through with only one gun? That will be quite the achievement...one gun on impossible. Do you only get cutter ammo? Or do you pick up ammo for other weapons and have to sell them at the store?

It sounds like you're moving faster than I am!

Going through with one gun isn't so bad right now, but I really only used one guy on my first run through as well. I think I used one other gun one time - maybe the flamethrower - my first run through, so the plasma cutter feels totally normal.

Even though I only have the cutter, you still get all types of ammo. I just sell it all at the store and then buy cutter ammo, which is cheap (I think 1200 credits for 6 rounds). It seems that cutter ammo also drops the most, so for the first part of the game I was always pretty stocked up. I also sell every air canister I find, I never had to use one the first go around and haven't this time yet either.

Once I finish this on impossible, I'm thinking I might go back and try it on the easiest level just for fun to see what all the other guns are like.

I wrapped up the first airlock part of Chapter 9, picked up everything the creatures dropped, walked back to the store and was able to stock back up a bit. Isn't Chapter 9 the level with the shooting gallery? If so, then I'll play through that to stock up even more. :)

I think it's very possible without the codes. There are a lot of hidden nodes and selling all the found stuff will get you A LOT of money. If you sell stuff and buy nodes every chance you get.. no problem.

I know that 5 node cheat code can be deciphered from the game. Once in every chapter, there is a hidden block of text around a Marker symbol. The text, written in Alien language, translates into 'Do you believe? deadspace.ea.com/ibelieve Your light shows the way. We have left you a gift.'

Now, in the bottom left corner of each block of text is a sequence of 4 arrows, one of which will glow green if you shine your torch on it. Note down which one it is and follow the translation instructions on the website (up and down mean triangle for the PS3 or Y for the 360, left and right mean square for the PS3 or X for the 360).

After 12 Chapters, you'll have a sequence of 12 arrows that translate to a sequence of 12 buttons corresponding to your console. They represent a cheat code. Punch it in, and 5 extra power nodes are yours.

Thanks to the people with way more time invested in this game for working through this. I still think it's pretty neat. Just another facet of this fantastic game.

That's a crazy hidden cheat! I don't think I will want to dedicate that much extra time to receive 5 extra power nodes - but I'm curious what the "torch" reference is to? Is that when you aim your gun, or is there another flashlight ability I'm not aware of because I didn't read the manual?

On another note, this game is so much better when playing in impossible mode. You really have to strategize. Especially when heading into a major firefight. I have no trouble taking them out with the timed mines... alt fire from the linegun. Take cover, step out, launch a mine near the base of the wall growth, hide, wait for the mine to do it's biz, and repeat if necessary. Most can be taken out with two mines. Then take care of any leftover pods with your plasma cutter by amputating the snake head.

Joe, I didn't get the chance to dedicate time to Dead Space this weekend like I'd hoped. I was able to clear Chapter 9 and start on Chapter 10, but didn't get the opportunity to go very far. I think for my next playthrough I am going to go back to a previous save and upgrade everything...I am at 820/1000, so am missing a few. Right now though, am going to take a little break.

Guys, I'm stuck on Impossible mode in Chapter 12. I'm in the room where you have to lift multiple bridges and use kinesis to drag the relic through the room. When you step into the middle area the room is locked-down with the announcement "hazardous bio-forms detected". I've got 100% health, level 5 suit, 50+ rounds in a fully upgraded plasma cutter, partially upgraded line gun, force gun, and ripper, all with ammo. I've been trying for two hours to get through this spot without success. I discovered that I can block one of the bridges by leaving the relic under it, this reduces the pathways the creatures can attack from but I still get rushed by 3 or 4 at the same time and get slaughtered. I assume you have to kill every last one of them otherwise the doors remain in lock-down. Getting frustrated with it and need some advice.

I think this is the hardest part of the game. I struggled with this as well, and finally gave up and used (sorry guys) the stasis cheat to get past it. :( I just couldn't find another way, since so many of them rush you all at the same time.

The quarantine doesn't get "lifted" even after you kill all of the monsters in that room - you have to go all the way into the building past the last bridge. That's when it'll finally be lifted.

If I recall correctly (I had to do it a bunch of times too...), you get attacked in three waves, a first big rush, then when you trigger the first bridge, and then again when you trigger the last bridge. I kept getting to the last bridge with no stasis and low on ammo, and those dudes with the yellow explosivo arms would take me out every time.

Finally I just gave up and used the stasis cheat in order to get through it. Even that was tough, but it allowed me to finally slow everyone down enough that I could take them all out. I don't feel to bad about it, hey, I'm only using the plasma cutter after all! ;)

Finally I just gave up and used the stasis cheat in order to get through it. Even that was tough, but it allowed me to finally slow everyone down enough that I could take them all out. I don't feel to bad about it, hey, I'm only using the plasma cutter after all! ;)

-JR

I wouldn't worry too much about that Juice. I had to use the cheat at that point as well!:) I also had the Line gun and Pulse rifle, in addition to the cutter. I also have the Level 6 Combat suit...;) . Also isn't there a stasis recharge station at the far end of the room? You have to cross two bridges to get to it. I can't remember if it was here or in the other great room. I also found that I went through so much ammo here as well, that I had to pick some up and reload on the fly.

I have to say though, that firefight really got the adrenaline going! At one point I was standing up and moving around the room! The wife thought I was nuts.:D:D Fun times.

I am already at chap 10 again on another playthrough!! Though not on Impossible. Blazing through on Medium to get the other achievements. I almost have everything fully upgraded, and after this playthrough, I will be missing 'don't get cocky kid' 'perfect score in the shooting gallery' and 'Z ball'.

What achievements are you missing Juice?

Hahah.. sorry I corrupted you guys and showed you that cheat code. It's hard to not use it since you don't get any penalty at all. And it's so simple to memorize and pull off in under 5 seconds when in a jam. :)

That part was soo hard for me, in fact I had to stop playing the game for while! Only later when I went back to finally complete it did I find that it wasn't as bad as I was making it.

Collect EVERYTHING along those corners of the ramps before you move the artifact for the first time. If you're patient, you can pretty much clear out the room, they do not respawn endlessly as I first thought. Use the long walkways as escape routes as you circle around the main room. CONSERVE AMMO. :)

I also found that I was running out of ammo a lot more on Impossible mode, and had to leg it a lot. You really have to make every shot count.

Wow, you're fast. How is it playing at medium? A totally different game?

I'm missing a ton of achievements, I think I only have 700 points right now. I don't have any of the weapon achievements, the log achievements, every weapon, plasma cutter, maxed out, and some other ones...I forget which, but for example getting past the cannon part with a certain percentage of shields left. I hope to take care of all of those on the next playthrough. :)

If it's a corruption then it's a good kind! It was actually nice to know I could do it and it wouldn't be an issue, I was just trying to remain a purist and not use it throughout the game. That part though...it was just too much and I had to use it!

I am playing this game with a maxed out cutter, Line gun, Force gun, Contact beam, Flame thrower. Pulse rifle almost maxed out, and I still have to get the Ripper. As you can only use four weapons at any time, I have to store some in the safe, which isn't bad, as one of the achievements is to store 30 items in the safe.

As for the difficulty level. After Impossible mode, anything is a cakewalk. I have so much ammo, health packs(5 large health packs in the safe). You hardly need to use stasis and never oxygen, as as fully upgraded Combat rig gives you something like 120 sec of air. The only place Isaac bought the farm was those damn asteroids:mad:... that wrecked what could have been a death free playthrough. Oh well, I got through on the third try.

Juice, I think the Epic tier 3 Engineer achievement is worth 150g so you can't have that many left. Also, the one gun is another 40g. I am also missing that one. I will get it on my next playthrough.:)

Turns out I had 625, not 700 achievement points. Bummer!

I'm on the last boss now, I forgot how annoying having to play through cutscenes are. I'm about to try for the third time to beat him, and I'd be able to cut out a lot of time of actual game play by being able to skip the intro cutscene to the boss. I always wonder which game tester was like "Yeah, it's TOTALLY cool to watch the same thing over and over, keep that in!" :(

Yeah, those cut scenes get really old after the third or fourth time.:) I think I am at 900 now. I got the maxed out achievement a quarter of the way through and am starting again on medium to get the one gun achievement.

I am going starting from scratch on this one with just the basic suit and cutter. I find that going through with the combat suit was getting a little too easy...I actually got the brawler achievement last playthrough as well. Man it felt good curb stomping those ba$tards. At one point, as I was smacking a slasher around, he just stood back. It was almost like he was saying 'what...aren't you going to shoot me?' Needless to say, I just capped his a$$, Indiana Jones style from Raiders. ;):D:D:D

I got to try 4 and stopped. It's odd, because the boss himself isn't really that hard, it's the different gameplay type that's the challenge. As to not spoil anything;

It's super annoying that your aiming mechanic when you aim when you're hanging upside down is so incredibly wonky. It's reversed - but not. I understand that it might be cool to make it harder to shoot since you're upside down, but it's not a "fun" harder, it's an "annoying" harder.

Also aggravating are the two pregger necromorphs. They're also not hard to kill, but annoying that they chose these creatures instead of any of the others. I get the idea of making it tough, and forcing you to stop and aim at them instead of firing blindly...but it doesn't make it more fun.

Oh well. Guess I'm just aggravated that I couldn't wrap this up the first time around. If only that damn cutscene didn't play, I would be able to try double the amount of times in half the overall time it takes.

I think it took me at least five tries to kill that damn Hive mind. I started to get tired of seeing Isaac getting eaten like that.:) I think its the only death where he really screams, as he's getting pulled apart.:D But hey, who wouldn't. On the other difficulty modes it only takes one or two shots to kill those pods, but on Impossible it seems to take a little more.

Yup! You have the sweet 45 second cut-scene starting the fight, then the fight, and then a good 15 second death-cut-scene if you die. Grrrrr. I'm sure I'm exaggerating the times, but you get the idea. ;)

*edit* Just finished the game, my wife was next to me asking me questions, I got distracted and didn't save the game down. :) Just my luck. I'll have to finish it again to make sure I keep the cash and nodes!

Is it possible to start a new playthrough on a different difficulty level but retain all of your equipment?

Or did you start over from scratch to get your maxed out achievement?

No, you can only keep your equipment if you playthrough at the same level as the previous one. The only thing you can keep is your suit...if you do the glitch, like you did for the impossible run.

Thanks Joe. Unfortunately I've only played this game on Hard and Impossible.

My "hard" save has me with 50k credits, 10 nodes, about 30 rounds of ammo and one master health.

My "impossible' save has me with 150,000 credits, 27 nodes, and my inventory slot filled with health and ammo. Sigh.

The big question, do I go through it on Hard and hope to get the maxed out achievement while I get the other achievements...or do I go through on impossible to try to get that achievement...or do I just start from scratch, play on easy or medium, and get the gun achievements and leave it at that?

Juice, I started a new game on Medium, with nothing upgraded, and am going through relatively quickly. I have managed to almost fully upgrade my plasma cutter and rig, and am not even finished chap 4. I am using most of my credits to purchase power nodes. I am just going with the cutter for the achievement. My playing time so far is 1:47.

After beating the game on Impossible, you would blow through a game on Easy. I tried starting a new game on Easy with nothing upgraded for my one gun, but found it was no challenge at all, and restarted on Medium. It is a bit better, but nothing like Impossible. I think I have had to use stasis twice so far, only on the Brutes. I would try Easy first, and if it's not to your liking, go for Medium.

Hey Juice, have you managed to finish off the other achievements? I am almost done the one gun. The only ones I will be missing are don't get cocky, shooting gallery and z-ball. I am taking a break after this, and don't know if I am going to go for the remaining achievements. You?

I actually haven't touched this game since I got a bit bummed that I'd only played it on Hard and Impossible, and my "Hard" save has me so low on credits and nodes.

I might just play through on easy or medium to get the gun achievements, but I don't think I'm hardcore enough to try to go through the game to get "maxed out" and some of the other ones. I also wound up getting Splinter Cell:Conviction and just finished that...so I've been spending my time with SC:C and some COD:MW2 here and there.

Maybe I'll throw Dead Space back into the Xbox this weekend.

The shooting gallery and z-ball achievements are super easy - you'll breeze through those! :)

Well, I finally finished my Medium playthrough...one gun. Took me 8:46. I think I have 980/1000. Z-ball, shooting gallery and Don't get cocky kid are only missing achievements. Taking a break from this game for a while.
