I am running my comcast box via HDMI through a receiver to the tv. I set the resolution on the box to 1080i and the 4:3 output setting to stretch. Is that the best way to do it? The problem is, when I go back later into the menu, I notice the settings will be changes (normally goes to 720p and the 4:3 goes to 480i). Why does it keep changing on its own? I always leave the cable box on. What are the optimal settings for a 1080p tv?

Well, technically, the fact that there are settings means that there really is no "proper" settings. These things are configurable because different users have different needs and preferences.

Personally, I set the 4:3 to "OFF" ("DISABLED" ?) I think.

The settings shouldn't be changing on you, though.
