I was trying to adjust the gray scale on my 8110 and found that the green drive adj makes no change. The bar graph moves but the intensity doesn't change. The G2 changes. Any thoughts?

Also, the CLM may not be sending the adjust signals to the HVPS, so it could be the CLM as well. draganm 10-13-08, 12:27 PM green drive is set to almost max from factory and is software limted to 5% total adjustment. If you watch it carefully it is probably changing but very little. If it doesn't change at all then G2 problem like Curt mentioned. Tim in Phoenix 10-13-08, 01:31 PM Hello Dragan is correct. Also, the hvps has no connection with drive, it would be the clm or vim. . CIR-Engineering 10-13-08, 02:28 PM You could pull the CLM and see if you can adjust the G2 after that. craigr draganm 10-13-08, 02:42 PM opps, I was thinking of G2, good to know drive Drive is CLM or VIM, I'm still learning stuff here from the pro's :) You could pull the CLM and see if you can adjust the G2 after that. craigr how would you power up the machine with no CLM? nashou66 10-13-08, 04:40 PM opps, I was thinking of G2, good to know drive Drive is CLM or VIM, I'm still learning stuff here from the pro's :) how would you power up the machine with no CLM? Tim's right, I was speedreading, giving crappy advice as usual..;) CIR-Engineering 10-14-08, 10:06 AM double CIR-Engineering 10-14-08, 10:06 AM I think he ment pull it and put it back in. Athanasios Actually I had a mind fart, and was thinking CMM... Sorry for the poor advice as well  craigr johnd393 10-14-08, 06:37 PM Thanks for your replys. You helped get me started. I have a service manual pdf for a 8000. I was looking a functional diagram of the VIM and noticed a block where the drive and contrast meet. Next I'm gonna check if varying the contrast actually affects the green. I have a 8110 and a 8000. Would the vim & clm be the same in them? Would the vim & clm be the same in them? John Hello Doubtful. Both boards were redesigned for 8110/8500/9500. One could put an oscilloscope on the VIM cables at each neckboard by unplugging from the neckboard. If you can achieve reasonable gray scale as is then you are probably okay; just set green drive to 90 or 92. . |
