Game sucks. Hard.
I'm a huge fan of rhythm games. Dance Dance Revolution was my first taste back in the days when I actually used to go out Friday nights to play it with friends.
Beat N' Groovy is pretty much a rehashed Pop N' Music from the old PS2 days. Some songs are even the same with the same button presses.
Why does it suck?
As of today, there are only 9 songs. Each one is ridiculously easy.
There is no progression whatsoever. You play a song, finish and it kicks you back to the main menu.
Songs are supposedly rated with a difficulty from 1-9. All songs as of today are level 1-3 in difficulty. Meaning they're all made for kids. Boring as hell, especially if you've played anything remotely challenging in DDR, Guitar Hero, DJ Max Portable, Beatmania, etc.
They have a 3 button mode which not only is it awkward and easy, but they decided not to have a 4 button mode, and went straight to 5 button mode. I've always like 4 button modes in most rhythm games. No child's play if you play challenging songs in certain games. I'm an ex-DDR gamer, so 4 button mode is what my brain is used to. 3 is too dull and simple, and 5 is awkward, especially with the button layout.
I purchased it thinking that perhaps there was a hard mode for songs. Nope. Just one difficulty for each song. 2 versions: 3 button version, 5 button version. That's it.
Absolutely no unlockable except for unlocking like 4 other avatars that get old as soon as you 'battle' against them.
You can seriously play the game for 15 minutes and you'd be done, never to touch it again.
I'd like my money back.
I'm gonna go back to playing my DJ max Portable 1 and 2 on my PSP, with it's plethora of kickass songs, difficulties, unlockables, visuals, etc. Everything this game wishes it could be.
UGH.
Not worth even $1.
I'll laugh at Konami for even THNKING anyone is gonna pay extra money to dish out extra songs as DLC that might BARELY raise it's difficulty. Especially if you can't hear them beforehand.
