Hi there,

I have a current 16:9 screen made of Blackout Cloth with a light grey painted on it.

But I wanna have a 2.35:1 now, and have a questions, should I use blackout cloth and paint it with ScreenGoo? Will this work fine? Should I use another kind of cloth?

What size should I use for 2.35:1 ? And how the hell should I make my 16:9 movies now? Have two separate velvet cloths and put them there?

If your looking to paint a screen regardless of material, go to the screen DIY section and look for Black Widow paint mix. You can go for screen goo if you would like but the BW paint mix is supossed to be very good. If you don't wan't to paint you can use the Phifer Sheerweave material to make a screen. Once put in place your good to go.

As far as size, if you want your 16:9 movies to be the same size as what you have now, you simply calculate your screen's width going this way <-------> by 1.33%. So if you screen is 90" diagonal it should roughly be 82.5" wide. So it would be 82.5 X 1.33 = 109.725 or round it up to 110 inches wide. You get your diagonal measurement the same way 90 X 1.33 = 119.7 or 120 inch screen size.

If you do it this way your 16:9 movies will be the same size as what your used to, and scope will be that much more grand. You can choose to simply leave nothing on the sides of the screen for 16:9 movies or you can make your own masking panels with velvet as you suggest which would be put into place when watching 16:9.
