Can someone point me in the right direction on this? I am a total noob, but with help from reviewing this forum, I have managed to install myself the following in my newly constructed house (I did all the wiring too):

Russound cav 6.6. (bought from an authorized dealer, but no one in my area is qualified to install it), with 2 a-bus sub-zones, as well as three main zones (so far - more to go).

Compoint intercom

Russound St2

CD player as another source

Am working on the TV.

Various speakercraft speakers in the rooms. (8 ohm, 14-gauge wiring)

The system itself works beautifully, except in the bedroom. There, when I turn on any source, the volume is much lower than in the other rooms. When I turn up the volume to a reasonable listening level, it starts to distort. Also, you can very faintly hear what's being played over the speakers in the other rooms, even though the keypads are not turned on.

The bedroom is the furthest home run from the cav and sources, but it's certainly less than 100 feet. (maybe 75, at most).

Do I need another amp for the bedroom? or have I done something wrong somewhere? any thoughts would be appreciated -

The distance should not be a problem. Sounds like you may have a wiring error. I'd check the speaker connections, particularly to the bedroom. If you crosswired or shorted something, that could give strange results. Trust you know that no speakers can have a common connection.

Do know that, thanks. I went down and re-attached the speaker wires from the bedroom to the cav (again), and that seemed to do the trick, even though it didn't the last two times ...

Otherwise you may have had just one strand of wire shorting across the terminal. It could have had a low enough resistance to significantly reduce the volume but high enough so you would still hear something.
