I am a Time Warner subscriber with 3 SA Explorer 8300HD DVR's. Is there any way to get the recorded content off of them and onto a Home Media Server so that I can access it from any TV in the houes? There are 2 firewire connectors on the back of these STB's.

Same question for a regular def TiVo Series 2 DT.

I am building a new home and have home run prewire 2 Cat6 drops along with 2 RG6 drops to each TV location. I'll also need to find a wired ethernet media extender that can handle 1080p and (hopfully) have an HDMI out. So far, my safe bet is the PS3. I'd like to find something a little cheaper.

When we started building the home, I promised my wife that she could watch her recorded content on any TV in the house. I hope that my mouth did not write a check that my body cant cash. Any suggestions more than welcome - including pointers to any relavant threads or different forums. Thanks, Fred

Distribute your DVRs to each TV with a matrix switch.

The above is a 4 input/4 output matrix switch. It can distribute HD output from 4 sources to 4 displays is any configuration. IE: input 1 to output 4, input 3 to input 1 or any combination. You locate all of your sources, cable DVRs, satellite boxes, DVD players, BluRay players centrally and distribute accordingly.

Matrix switches are available in configs from 4x4 to 16x16 and bigger.

This particular one is component video. HDMI matrixes exist but are not ready for prime time yet IMO.
