I have a home theatre installed in a 2 meter rack in my basement. I have a Denon AVR 5805 Receiver that is only used for the home theatre. I have home run speaker wire to 4 locations in my home. The wire is run to a volume control area and then the wire is then run to where the speakers will go in each location.

I am interested in installing an Audio Distribution system. I would like to listen to Sirius Satelite, HD Radio AM/FM (Cubs Games) and ipod or mp3s in the various locations. I am interested to have control panels in a couple of locations but not all of the locations where I could see the meta data of the display or change sources etc. I assume I have to have cat5 run to those locations.

Does anyone have any recommendations on the brands that I should look at to purchase. Also, with my configuration and the speaker wire that I have already home run I expect my installation will be much easier. Any indeas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for all of your help!

Nuvo, Russound, and Niles are three well know brands of multiroom audio systems which typically have six or more individual zones. You need a cat5 wire to the control pads in each zone. Some control pads just control the sources and volume while others have a display with additional data such as song titles from a music server. There are other less well know (and less expensive) brands also. A Google search of multizone audio will turn up many.

For wireless sound control you could go to a Sonos or Squeezebox Duet. These also allow access to many internet music stations and sources such as Pandora Radio and Rhapsody, among others.
