View Full Version : BioShock 2 mikeloxlong 10-16-08, 10:01 AM Never really got into the first one but maybe I should... http://kotaku.com/5064363/is-this-the-first-bioshock-2-trailer Dave_6 10-16-08, 10:27 AM Awesome! I can't wait for this!!! Mindwarper 10-16-08, 12:36 PM Deadspace has a lot of the bioshock feel. How would you continue bioshock? The story is kind of finished. But the game was so much fun, I will try bioshock 2. mikeloxlong 10-16-08, 12:38 PM I thought that it was an interesting game but it wasn't enough to keep me interested in the long haul. This is one of those games that I will have to revisit when time and new games permit. I wonder though, how did the little sisters get so big... aegisx 10-16-08, 12:41 PM I don't think the same team is doing it. rsra13 10-16-08, 01:36 PM I'm in. It was mentioned before it's not the same development team. But the creator/tech lead will be same: Ken Levine. From Wikipedia: BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams The PlayStation 3 release of BioShock contained a teaser trailer for the sequel, titled BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams. The trailer featured a seemingly grown-up Little Sister holding a Big Daddy toy on a beach on the Atlantic Coast, staring out towards the ocean. The trailer concluded with pillars of rock and sand rising from the beach, before forming the skyline of Rapture, and finally transforming into a barnacle-encrusted BioShock 2 logo, with the subtitle Sea of Dreams appearing in the last few seconds. NoThru22 10-16-08, 01:50 PM I thought that it was an interesting game but it wasn't enough to keep me interested in the long haul. This is one of those games that I will have to revisit when time and new games permit. I wonder though, how did the little sisters get so big... When time passes, people grow. :D evil 10-16-08, 04:06 PM I think that she will be going back to Rapture, so this can't be a prequel. Is this game coming out soon? Why the trailer? bassmonkeee 10-16-08, 04:58 PM I think that she will be going back to Rapture, so this can't be a prequel. Is this game coming out soon? Why the trailer? My guess is because the trailer shows up in the extras of the PS3 version on Bioshock when you finish the game. WalksInDarkness 10-17-08, 08:55 AM Hmm, I guess this means I better finish up the first game then! I bought my X360 for BioShock, but ended up getting addicted to COD4 instead! mproper 10-17-08, 09:04 AM Yeah, I never finished the original either...kindof got bored with it I guess, and it kept getting set aside for other games. I keep meaning to go back and finish it someday. WalksInDarkness 10-17-08, 09:36 AM Yeah, I never finished the original either...kindof got bored with it I guess, and it kept getting set aside for other games. I keep meaning to go back and finish it someday. I didn't so much get bored with it, just that I didn't have a lot of time to commit to figuring out how to pass certain levels; I'm not much of a gamer, and found it really frustrating when I couldn't open a certain door and such. COD4-Online was perfect for "OK, I have 45 minutes to waste", I can sometimes easily fit in 2-3 matches in that span. I'm kinda burnt-out on COD4 at this point, maybe this will be a good time to put BioShock back into rotation. mboojigga 10-17-08, 11:18 AM How many people haven't finished Bioshock? I haven't finished it myself due to some of the same reasons being other games and time. I brought it with me to Iraq hoping I have time but with GeOW2 and Fallout 3 and studies I may not get to finish it until sometime in 09. CoreyM 10-17-08, 11:22 AM BioShock was one of the few games of its kind that I actually did finish. It wasn't terribly long and the puzzles weren't particularly difficult. I enjoyed almost every minute of it, but it was definitely only a rental for me. I'll play a sequel though. mproper 10-17-08, 11:25 AM How many people haven't finished Bioshock? 857. I just kindof got tired of playing it. I think because I never felt any sense of danger...I mean, you could literally (if you were patient enough) melee a Big Daddy to death, because the enemies kept their damage so there was no penalty for dying, so I never felt any need to actually use any kindof strategy. The atmosphere was great though, and I was enjoying the story....I just couldn't get into the gameplay/combat I guess. I will finish it though....someday. Dave_6 10-17-08, 11:29 AM I bought it on launch day and didn't finish it till this past weekend. Great game and I really enjoyed playing thru it! At some point I'd like to play it again and try to get the rest of the achievements that Ive missed. LexInVA 10-17-08, 11:30 AM I'll play Bioshock when it gets down to a decent price. The game is going for about 35-40 bucks new or used. WalksInDarkness 10-17-08, 11:34 AM Stupid question: One of the levels has some room that looks like a greenhouse/conservatory that I need to enter by going up a flight of stairs. The door in front of it is more like an expanding gate thing, I can't figure out how to open it for the life of me. If anybody knows the door I am talking about, please let me know any pointers. TonyDP 10-17-08, 12:19 PM Stupid question: One of the levels has some room that looks like a greenhouse/conservatory that I need to enter by going up a flight of stairs. The door in front of it is more like an expanding gate thing, I can't figure out how to open it for the life of me. If anybody knows the door I am talking about, please let me know any pointers. It's been ages since I played Bioshock, but if you can't get past that door, there's probably another entrance somewhere nearby. Explore the surrounding area and you should find something. I finished Bioshock and sold it back shortly thereafter; the game had a fantastic look and tons of atmosphere, but once you'd beaten the game there really wasn't much replay value to it and the add-ons for the 360 version were pretty forgettable. The game had some interesting ideas but they didn't all come together. Most of the plasmid abilities were unnecessary (all you really needed 95% of the time was telekenesis, lightning and maybe fire), you could kill most enemies with your wrench, and the encounters with the Big Daddies quickly degenerated into unloading your most powerful weapons on them until they dropped. And for a game that takes place in an underwater city, the environment ended up not being much of a factor at all; I counted less than a handful of time when you had to deal with the water and the most memorable one was in the demo where the fuselage crashes thru that tube that you're passing thru. The endings were also very short and disappointing, hardly the payoff I was expecting. Hopefully, Bioshock 2 will address some of those issues and give a more varied gameplay experience. Kevin4092D 10-17-08, 01:06 PM I have played through 3 times and I'm playing a fourth time right now. TomGreen321 10-17-08, 01:47 PM Played through it twice, and I doubt I'll play another one in the series. Just wasn't that good. dbburns 10-17-08, 01:52 PM LOL. Yeah, I hate it when a game is so not good that I play through it twice. :) NoThru22 10-17-08, 02:04 PM Stupid question: One of the levels has some room that looks like a greenhouse/conservatory that I need to enter by going up a flight of stairs. WalksInDarkness 10-21-08, 09:04 AM Stupid Question #2: OK, so I finally sat down with the game for more than 45min last night (1.5hrs, woo-hoo!). I got the Telekenisis Plasmid and the Fire one too, and a bunch of swag. Now my next task is to bring the key back to the entrance, to be used on some control panel. But when I go through the plexiglass tunnel the airlock is as blown to crap, and I can't figure how to open it; I have tried avery Plasmid and Weapon I have. They tease! Anyways, it's looking like it's scheduled for an '09 holiday release, for which I am excited. tlvaj 03-06-09, 05:20 AM I bought the game on launch day but just finished the last 2 hours yesterday night. It was a decent game but not as good as everybody hyped it up to be. KLUNKDM 03-06-09, 07:15 AM I bought it when it came out and finished it soon after that. I loved the game and its a favorite of mine. It's one of those games that I liked enough to play again and will before #2 comes out....... I just finished my first play through yesterday, it took me a year because I am so lazy! If "2" it isn't coming out until the Holidays, I might actually do another playthrough on a harder setting (got too easy by the end). Evan S 03-06-09, 02:48 PM I cannot believe I am in the minority in thinking the first game was awesome. I've beaten it and would like to go back and play it again if not for all the games in my library I haven't even taken out of the plastic yet (Dead Space, Fallout 3, Saints Row 2 and Killzone 2) According to my games played list on Xbox.com, I've played 53 games on my 360 and Bioshock is easily in the top 2 or 3. I loved every minute of it and if Ken Levine is responsible for Bioshock 2, count me in as a day 1 purchaser. ferrisg 03-06-09, 03:25 PM I cannot believe I am in the minority in thinking the first game was awesome. Sadly, I think he's only a consultant for the second one. 2K Boston is busy doing their own game. Bioshock 2 is being made by 2K Marin, who did the PS3 port and the rather pedestrian challenge levels for the PS3 version. I'm hoping for something great, but trying not to get my expectations too high. forcedfedgtp 04-10-09, 09:07 AM Here is a link to a trailer! http://www.gametrailers.com/player/47807.html Looks pretty good to me! (Mods: On a side note...why wasnt this thread listed normally? I knew it existed...had to search for Bioshock 2 to find it. My screen only shows 2 pages for xbox threads?) Bioshock? $24 @ Amazon http://www.**********************/track/img/3358/s09v0317fvxp/00.gif SeanCJ 04-10-09, 04:58 PM I enjoyed Bioshock immensely. Playing this game on a 1080P FP with a 136" movie screen with full 7.1 surround sound in a dark room....talk about some immersive and spooky moments! Tons of fun. I enjoyed the story line and atmosphere so much that I sat along side and watched my best friend play through the second time harvesting the little sisters rather than helping. It was just as much fun to watch as to play. I'll be getting Bioshock 2 on release day for sure. sooke 04-10-09, 04:59 PM Umm... Looks kinda dark. I love these. http://www.gametrailers.com/player/47818.html TonyDP 04-12-09, 07:09 PM I liked the first game but honestly thought it was way overrated. Once you got past the ambience, you were left with a repetitive game with lots of fetch quests and a bunch of abilities that you almost never needed to use. The underwater environment hardly factored into the gameplay, there was no variety to the gameplay and the endings were quite forgettable. Based on that trailer part 2 looks more like an expansion for the first game: same art deco design, same plasmid abilities, same hunting down splicers, same dark (at times too dark) environments. On the plus side, it looks like the underwater environment might actually factor into the gameplay this time. Eddie Horton 04-12-09, 08:31 PM I guess different strokes for different folks. For me, the ambiance and art deco style made the game. There's really nothing else I've seen that looks or plays like it. Yeah, most of the plasmids save electroshock, telekinesis and fire were pretty much just window dressing, but still, it's the tops for me. Not only do you get to kill an endless number of splicers, but you get to do it in style. rsra13 04-13-09, 01:18 PM And this time you play as a Big Daddy! mikeloxlong 04-13-09, 01:18 PM ^^^Spoiler rsra13 04-13-09, 01:29 PM ^^^Spoiler That's what I saw in the latest trailer released last week. formulanerd 04-13-09, 01:34 PM And this time you play as a Big Daddy! you play as a big daddy in the first one too ;) mproper 05-15-09, 10:20 AM IGN has a 9 minute gameplay video up: http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/14240341/bioshock-2/videos/bioshock2_vdp_042209.html Looks good to me.
