Hello,
As christmas time is approaching i am looking for items to ask for. i am a huge home theatre enthusiast and love anything to do with better audio/video. i Already own a pretty nice system and i am just looking for ways to make it better. any ideas would be great i already have things like LED lights behind tv. i was thinking about getting bass traps. i live in an apartment that is kinda weird room design but they will come in very handy when i move out of it. I tried uploading a pic of the room but it didnt work so ill just explain it. it is a large room the is long it only has 2 corners on the left side and the right corners are part of another room/kitchen so im not to sure were to put the bass traps but i know they will help alot because my apartment is concrete walls and wood floors.

If you "already own a nice system," I would consider ButtKickers for your seats. I don't have any in our HT, but that would add another dimension to the HT experience.

i have not really read much about butt kickers but how do they work since i already use a subwoofer.

Again, I don't have them. They install under your seat to give your seat a vibration during those "subwoofer" moments. Do a search on the site. A lot of people talk about them around here.

How about some nice theater decor? I am in the market for a life sized Yoda to put into my theater. Framed movie memorabilia (http://www.stargatecinema.com/Framed-Movie-Memorabilia-c-444.html) are always a big hit.

I have buttkickers in my theater chairs. They are powered by an dedicated amp that can power up to 4 chairs worth of butt kickers each. You basically split your subwoofer output just as it exits your receiver. One end goes off to your sub, the other to the buttkicker amp. From the amp you run one basic heavy guage speaker wire to the chairs. They are wired chair to chair then.

They make for a cool experience, especially with action movies.

I agree...

I have used e-bay quite a bit to get some movie props for my home theater. Just do a search for "movie props" or "movie memorabilia"

Let's see... I have props from:

Star Wars (multiple episodes)
Goonies
LOTR
BAck To The Future
Devinci Code
Scarface
Facing The Giants
Raiders Of The Lost Ark
Pirates Of The Carribean
Friday The 13th
Speed Racer

All from E-bay, and most for fairly cheap too. For example, I got Gimlie's Battle Axe for a $5 bid...

I would love to see what your memorabilia is for Raiders of the Lost Ark... my favorite movie. :)

I like the idea of using bass shakers, but I am not sure about Butt Kickers. They are more pricey than the Aura Pro shakers.
I have these...

They are cheaper. Although they have went up a bit since I bought mine.
I currently use the pro shakers and love them. I have one in each chair and use a simple two channel stereo receiver for my amp. I think I have about $250 invested in my seven shakers and two channel amp. ;)
I think it has been the best bang for the buck experience I have in my theater.

What about laserdisc art? A lot of people are unloading their laserdisc collections for literally pennies on the dollar, and the art itself is huge 12x12. So you can buy a few, remove the laserdisc and glue them to a piece of plywood or foam backing and hang on the wall.

You can make them small

I used to have the Aura Pro shakers and for the money, they do the job. The Butt Kickers, however, I've found to do it much, much better.

The BK can induce vibration at much lower frequencies and they can be adjusted to shake much harder. You can also replace several of the Auras with a single BK.

It all depends on what's a good fit for your expectations and your budget.

Nothing really great... Just a frame with the cover and the stats from the movie. (Date opened, stars, etc...)

I think I have a picture around here somewhere...

This is a good Idea, I certainly could do this in one of my wall....Display them much better than leaving them stored in the garage, I will definitely look into this....Thanks:D
