Glad I sold this game. This is a disgrace imo. I mean, I see the business side of trying to squeeze every last red cent out of the consumer, but the spot was empty for Vader from the beginning. Does this mean he was already on the disc? Why should I have to pay to unlock something already on the disc I bought? Well, thankfully I'll never have to.

yep sold SC4 a while ago as well. Never buying soul caliber ever again. Namco lost a customer.

If this was going to work (at all), you'd think that they might charge $5 less for the game (yeah right) or at a minimum release this BEFORE "unleashed" came out and gave everyone a Vader fix.
Hopefully next to no one will buy it and there'll be put in there place.

You guys have a problem with a five dollar character that should have been included in the game, what is your deal?

Its more so the principle. The character was already created and PURPOSELY left out of game (actually its rumoured its already on the game disc, just hidden) in order to get an extra $5 out of the customer somewhere 'down the road'.
I think we all agree if the character was newly CREATED and then made available for download for $5 bucks AFTER the game disc was in store.. it would be no problem. But to purposely disable a feature, just to ask for more bucks down the road is wrong.
Think of it like this. You bought a 300 horsepower car. But the dealership purposely crippled the engine so it only made 250 horsepower at purchase time. After buying the car, the dealership will now charge you 10% of the cars original MSRP.. to instantly remove the crippling device and allow you the full 300 horsepower. Yeah.. thats the same level of shadiness!!

It's been confirmed that the data is on the 360 disc for sure, not sure about the PS3 version though.
Also to add a character in a game like this, it would have had to be made with the others to insure decent balance. So either way Namco is ripping you off.

I agree that this should be about the principle. If the Vader really was on the disc, Namco could have simply released a free "time" released download. Or if they really wanted to make the $5 download worth it, they should of at least included some more costumes, etc. for other characters.
I guess this is the type of DLC that we can expect in the future...
