Hi

I have a Panasonic PZ700u that is 8 months old. I have noticed recently that when I first turn on my TV and there is no signal to the TV (while the cable box warms up, or if its on DVD mode with the DVD player off, etc) that random pixels are firing on and off (like a speckle pattern of 50 or so pixels). they are mostly on the right of the screen and mostly red, but some green and blue fire as well. this seems to be worse when I first turn on the TV, but it is still happening after I watch TV for a few hours or so. If, for instance, I pause the cable on a mostly black or fully black screen, some pixels are still randomly firing, but mostly on the bottom-most line of the display and not nearly as many as when I first turn it on

sometimes when I switch inputs on the TV, from cable to an input with no signal (aux 1, game or something), the random pixel firing is minimal, then after a few seconds, more pixels start to fire after the input label on the top right of the screen turns off. however, other times there is no firing at all, it's just all black everywhere. this also seems to depend on the input selected.

does this happen to anyone else? would someone mind turning their TV on and selecting an input with no signal and tell me what they see? my TV is only 8 months old, and I'm not really sure what is going on. this isnt ruining my viewing experience (any worse that ATT's sub-par HD already is) since the pixels are so small, but im afraid that its a symptom of worse things to come

thanks for any advice or help you guys can provide

Well I'm not any expert.. but i mean it could be noise from the cables or something like that? interfierence? On my first and second pz80u ( replaced first, replaceing second all dead pixels) nor on my px80u ( upgraded to pz) i did NOT notice what you are talking about. I know it's a later model but still thought i should give my input.

He ended up having Panasonic repair it.

after reading the relevant posts in that thread, it appears as though i need a new panel. i guess ill be making a service call asap

another thing that videojanitor also saw when he was experiencing this same problem was IR. He would see IR (say from a TV logo or input label) when he turned the TV off and turned it back on. It seemed to stay there until those pixels were used again. I see this too, but I have thought that this was what people refer to as IR (and is therefore normal). Am I missing a subtlety in the definition of IR? I know that this is the subject of every other post on this board, but I am clearly missing something...
