I've been a long-time reader of this forum but have recently begun to acquire equipment.
I have an opportunity to pick up a Gray's Power Company RGPC 1200 (http://www.richardgrayspowercompany.com/products.aspx?type=parallel) line conditioner.
Can any of you comment on the feature set vs. the Panamax 5300 (http://www.panamax.com/Products/A-V-Components/M5300-PM.aspx)? I need to get something as I currently have no protection or line conditioning for any of my equipment. Although my equipment is modest, I'd like to ensure it doesn't get damaged.
I can get the RGPC 1200S for roughly 30% of retail - so, should I buy it or pay retail for a 5300?

I have owned (and sold) a Richard Gray unit and I own a Panamax 4100. If you're just looking for straight-up comparison between the two, I'm going to suggest the Panamax. The Richard Gray manual made it clear that this unit is supposed to improve your picture and sound (IMHO, bullshit) which you pay for. So if you're just looking to protect your equipment against overvoltages, I'm going to say without hesitation that I believe the Panamax to be a better fit.

I recommend against using Richard Gray. I owned one of the larger units had a bad experience ,was treated very badly, never got any satisfaction from them with the failed unit.

My old and well-used Panamax suddenly died last week. I sent an email asking for support, and a tech rep called the next day.
She informed me that they stopped making my product 10 years ago. They are replacing my broken unit with a current model for free plus shipping. Way to go Panamax!

I have a few Panamax's around the house. In May our house was stuck by lightning....so strong it caused an electrical fire in the attic. My Panamax 1500(an old girl) clamped and shut down like it should....and every piece in my HT setup was fine.
The smaller panamax on my comp saved that setup as well.
I swear by the panamax's...and after the fire...even more.
Too bad our restoration company ( Servpro) caused over $7000.00 damage to our gear from mishandling and abuse when they took everything away to be cleaned and tested.
Cheers,

One should be aware that Panamax no longer offers the lifetime warranty on products other than the floor models. The rack mount components are 3 years. Frankly, I can't see why anyone would need more than one of the floor models anyway.

OK, I'm going to go off on a bit of tangent, but I'm going to suggest taking a hard look at battery-equipped Panamax. Tweeter, IIRC, has them for half-off as well.
If you have equipment that wouldn't take kindly to an abrupt shutdown, get one with a battery. If you have dips and sags in your power line in the summer (when everyone turns on their AC), get a battery equipped unit.
My 2¢. Your mileage may vary,
