I just got a Panasonic TH50PZ80U plasma TV (50 inch), and I'm seeing what looks like convergence(!) issues on it.

White static text has one pixel-width outline of magenta on the left side and one pixel-width outline of yellow on the right side. This happens even in the TV's own menus.

Is this normal for Panasonic plasmas? I have sharpness turned down to 0 (it doesn't matter what value I use it seems). Input is HDMI 1080p from a Panasonic BD30 Blu-ray player.

This issue occurs on bright objects even when not moving (ie. BD menu items, movie credits, and on the TV's own builtin menus).

Is this normal? It cannot be seen with my (bad) eyes at 6 feet away.

Maybe I am missing a setting somewhere - although DNR is turned off. It doesn't look like I have any postprocessing enabled.

(For burn-in, I have Picture set to 0, Brightness to 30)

To be honest i think it is normal. Did not bother me. One second I'll edit this i'll turn on my PZ80U to check.

Lol yeah.. very ugh.. un-noticeable but it's there. I seen it on my first PZ80u i think. I see it on this one. replacing this one ( dead pixels) with another i'm sure i'll see it on that too. All normal.( the thing you explained)

Ok thanks! Just making sure. It looks good from normal distance.

I actually did not notice it from like a foot, had to look really, really close.

Trust me you should be more worried about dead pixels.. i am =(.

Possibly seeing color fringing from sub-pixel controller

Thats what i thought, it's very similar to phosphor lag ( fringing) you can also see it on the extreme right and left edges of the tv. This i've seen on every plasma in my life.
