Hello all.. new to these forums, have looked around quite a bit. I am pretty challenged when it comes to hooking up media extenders and so forth, but I really would like to get the most out of my technology.

Question -
I have a PS3 and an HP notebook with Window Vista Premium. I have a wireless home network with an N router. The PS3 is connected to the router via a powerwire adapter for faster speeds.

I have tried numerous times to use the DME function of my PS3 with no success. Can anyone offer a step by step help to doing this? Or direct me to a site that has it for rookie technology folks like me?

Thanks for your help.

In Vista, after you turn on the 'media sharing' option in Windows Media Player 11 (its under "librabry"), everything should -more or less- go automatically (including the setting of an exception in your firewall). Another option is to install TVersity.

However, as I experienced (and described in a different thread), if you have a Netflix account and desire to use PlayOn for Netflix's Instant View streaming (I'm a big fan of it now), it is better to stay with WMP 11 in my opinion.

(by the way... you can't use the PS3 as a media extender for Vista's MCE if that's what you were thinking. You have to use WMP)
