Anyone know where I can get the "ACTUAL" seats from old theaters....??? Like the narrow, padded/fabric seats used in your normal theater???? I would love some nice berklines.... but I'm working with a narrow staircase since my space is in an attic.... so I thought about the various cinemas I've been in, and those seats, with the flip up seat, cup-holder, etc.... would be great. I'd even be willing to replace the uppohlstering on them (am I illiterate??? only I know!!!) I found a place that said they sold them, but their only contact method was via email, and multiple emails, saying I wanted pricing on only 3 or 5 seats.... got ignored.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

How narrow is your staircase?

Most of the Berkline recliners can be brought in through quite narrow openings. You need at least 28" opening, though.

Berkline has many different seating options. Many are much smaller than the traditional 090 style that is typically used.
For traditional theater seating, look at e-bay.

That's it??? wow! thanks.... I will measure the opening, and find out what I'm dealing with, but I know it's narrow!

I'll look at their other models..... I've only seen the ones that my local HT store carries, and the ones people I know have.

I agree that since the Berklines come apart and you can turn the base on it's side you can get them just about anywhere.

If you still want real theater seats here is a vendor that has been used by AVSers

Thanks for the link!!!!! The free shipping from them makes them a lot better option for nicer seats than I found on ebay!

They also show up on craigslist from time to time.

FWIW, I had a friend of mine buy real theater seating for his high-end HT. While it really looks great, it can't hold a candle to the recliner-type seating for comfort.

Think twice before you buy this. IMHO only.

I understand that, and a few things are big factors to me.....

1) Price

2) my space is in my attic (one of my pics in my link shows the narrow doorway) so getting even a modest berkline (in pieces) up the steps would be impossible...... heck, I had to adjust my hands in order to get my 400 disc CD/DVD/SACD player through the door.... THAT is how narrow it is

3) Price.... oh I said that one already eh :p
