Hopefully I can explain this right. I bought the Impact Acoustics 3x5 Component Video Matrix switch. Sources are HD DVD, HD Directv Tivo, and directv stand alone HD reciever.

Ran all the wire got everthing hooked up. I'm running mini coax to each location. Hooked up my plasma looks great and I am able to switch sources easily. I had a 8 year old toshiba Big screen in the front room and the pic looked great on all sources.

Now to my problem. Two weeks ago I bought a Samsung 61 inch DLP and hooked it up with the same wires as my big screen toshiba. Turn on my samsung and I got these green and purple lines going up and down the screen(also a buzz noise from the sound). I thought the tv was bad. I called best buy and told them I needed a new tv. A week later I got my new Samsung 61 inch and thought it would fix the problem. Nope same purple and green lines.

So I did some problem solving to see what is causing these lines. I hooked up my HD DVd directly to the Samsung tv and the pic looked great. So I started unplugging things and switching things. I found when I unplug the 50 inch Plasma, the picture looks perfect on the Samsung, but once I plug it back in to the switcher, the samsung goes back to the purple and green lines.

Can anybody give me any ideas what could be causing this?? Do you think its the switcher??

Temporarily run an extension cord from your two TVs to the switcher location and plug them all into the same outlet. See if that makes a difference.

That was it. I ran the electrical cord to another outlet and sure enough clear pic. So now I don't want to have a orange extension cord ran throughout my house. How do I fix the electrical outlet so it doesn't interfere with the tv??

You have a ground loop. In a nutshell, you have different paths to ground from the two outlets, with differences in impedance that result in small voltage introduction. Enough to distort the signal. Follow the advice in this thread:

The first thing I would check is to make sure that the polarity on all your outlets is correct (neutral and hot orientation) and that you have good ground connections to each outlet. Be sure to cut the breakers off when inspecting. If you don't feel comfortable, hire an electrician. Under any circumstances DO NOT lift the ground with a cheater plug, as some of your google searches might recommend. This is very dangerous and can lead to shock and/or fire.
