Last week, I recorded ER, and I had lots of breakup and pixelation so i decided to watch it online. I saw it was available in HD and downloaded the software package, applers to be peer to peer. Anyway since then I've noticed lots of network activity and the NBCpandora program ( don't recall the name for certain) is running in the background and comsuming a fair amount of memory. I just uninstalled it.


Never did get to see ER, I clicked on it and it said it would notify me when the program was ready, it never did. Has anyone else had better luck with NBC streaming HD?

It's probably the limited bandwidth NBC devotes to the site. I even tried their Olympics footage site with the new MS Silverlight plug-in and it was the same.

The only HD streaming I've seen that worked well was at ABC but ER (and most NBC content) is also available on http://www.Hulu.com in 480p and that always streams extremely smoothly. The picture quality is more than passable on a large screen when hooked up digitally.

Hulu is testing HD content but the content is not worth looking at right now.

NBC Direct is a processor hog. Avoid it.

I'm in Canada and although I watch ER OTA on NBC, if I miss an episode, I discovered that CTV which picked up the re-broadcast rights have this season archived. Not sure what quality it is though but better than having my Media Center record off analog cable.
