The Maelstrom X is only available in single 4 ohm? Are there any alternatives with a dual 4 config to get a 2 ohm load, or dual 1 to get 2. High Xmax, low Fs. XBL^2.

I think you need to move this to the DIY forum.

I think you want to post in the DIY Speakers/Subwoofer section....

But As far as I know, there are no alternatives to the Maelstrom... I got 2 coming both are 4ohm, I'll be bridging twin PLX2-2502 for each....

What amp are you running that you need 2ohm...? The Maelstroms need about 1500w each as far as I know... possibly more if going sealed and you are Eq'ing.

Actually, I'd like a pair of 18" Avas. I have a pair of 15's now.

If a mod would move it to DIY, that would be nice... thanks :D

A great alternative to the Maelstrom-X is a Sound Splinter RLp18. I have two. They sell them in a dual 2ohm and dual 4ohm voicecoil configurations. They don't have XBL^2 though they do sound great.

I just took a closer look at those...theyre sexy! IDK about the dual spiders, they not progressive roll? I oike the soft look of paper cones and 1/2 roll foam surrounds...but that surround looks like it gives back some Sd. Is it over hung? For the price I still like the XBL Mael....but now Im on the right track...thank you sir!
