After searching for a while for a good media player with decent price. I did my reserach in various forums and google search.

I reached the conclusion that I should get Limhd310S based on my needs which are:

1. download hd movies from the Internet and playing them from HD media server without depending on my laptop.

2. Media player to have ethernet connection and hard disk storage.

I bought it through datoptic website the response was fairly okay since my order was international, I had to go through their procedure to avoid fruad...

anywayz, got the limhd310s hooked it up to my TV, powered it on in about 30 seconds, it was up and running....

First problem:
configured the network path in Limhd310 and assigned it a static IP address only to find out that it wont access my PC shared folder.

contacted datoptic through their forum, response came the next day suggesting to upgrade to latest firmware.

did that and everything worked fine. of course I had to go through couple of hardship to upgrade at first, cuz USB flash had to be bootable and I didnt have one. so I bought internal hard disk and installed it to save the firmware in it and then do the upgrade.

next day limhd310 wont work at all..it will not send a video signal at all. I have no idea why...nothing change from the night before.

I posted my problem in datoptic and tomacro and waiting for response.

anyone has the same experince??

The limHD310 may reset the setting....

All you need to do is press the TV output key on the remote control to change the video out to HDMI....

I have use this limHD310 for 6 months. It is good as M6500A when play MKV and other H264 encode video, where M2TS file it may even playing better

One thing about limHD310s i don't like is networking...but I have not to net work this limHD310s, it has the ezSWAP HDD

DATOptic just post a thread that limHD310 can have USB connection up to 12TB

That's pretty cool!

Thank you Firewire,

The unit actually over heated, this is why it was not working. I've disconnected Limhd310 for about an hour, pluged in the adapter again and everything worked fine.

I believe that the FAN is not doing what it is supposed to do effeciently.

I wish you luck with your Tomacro purchase. Tomacro abandoned all of us Lim 210 users a while back.

Check out this thread around page 131 or so. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=852855&page=131

I do hope you don't run into the same problems.

The LIM started out as a good product but Tomacro's support is what was lacking.

Good Luck!

I tested players with NMT firmware; it has all the bell and whistle. But I don't care about to see YouTube on my HDTV or browse preset internet sites, I can do better with my computer. I want to see 1080p movie with the best sound there is
I'm end up returned those

When come to play M2TS and MKV files, there are ONLY two players: M6500A (M7000) and limHD-310s

There are five updates on limHD-310s in 5 months. That proves they learned from their mistake.

Just for a note of different:
Where can you find a player can connected to USB total of 8 HDD? Or 12TB with 1.5TB or 16TB if 2.0TB HDD available

Guys,

while searching over the internet I came aross a webiste

a-tecsubsystem

they have what they call mediamate which is hd media server....it looks promising...and it can play all the format like the Limhd310s.

check it out and let me know what you think.....

one thing that I dont like about Limhd310s is that it does not have a web interface for management.

I will update u guys with how Limhd310s work for me

This proves nothing. The 210 had updates also, I'll believe that Tomacro has changed when the support is as good when the next generation of player is released.

On their own web site in the forums they state that they will not support their own products (LOOK HERE (http://www.tomacro.com/english/Forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=16&PID=86#86)) and will not answer questions about it (210).

And for the 310, there are multiple questions on the forums concerning this model that are unanswered as well.

The 310 support is going the way the 210 did... I hope you are wrong but Tomacro is playing the same game as last time.

If it seems that I am biased against Tomacro - it is because I am. I as well as many, many others have a $300 dollar or so doorstop that they left me with.

I DO hope you do not get burned.

Guys,

one thing that I dont like about Limhd310s is that it does not have a web interface for management.

What do you mean by this? This is a media player, isn't it?
I has the menu and navigation built in...

Does it play all the video files you throw at it?

it played all my divx, mkv files that I have.

I had a problem playing .srt subtitle,

I converted .srt to .ass and that didnt do much..I am playing around with now.

Limhd310 does not have a web interface for management...like a homepage that I can access using my browser and I can not ftp any files to it either. for me thats not good....

now the only for me to transfer files is to actually connect my laptop to it...and that sux...I tried using their Samba to copy and paste..but thats buggy..it didnt work....I wish that I can transfer files as easy as typing \\limhdIPADDRESS

I have not problem of playing MKV with SRT file whether embeded or not...

If you edit the srt with Notepad, you may have problem with it..try some other text editing

You can also mux the srt in the MKV using the MKVtoolnix

For SAMBA problem try 1.48 firmware

Do you realize how slow it is when you are copying file via 10/100mbps? if you want to transfer file this way... I think you're extraordinary patience!

I was able to play most formats but this one

H.264/MPEG-4 AVC

Video: MPEG4 Video (H264) 720x400 23.98fps [Video]
Audio: AAC 48000Hz 6ch 4608Kbps [Audio]

I was able to see video but no audio.

I dont know why.

Ah... that what i was talking about....
limHD-310s is very good with x.264 codec...One of the best so far that I had tested.

What audio output port that you're using? HDMI, Optical, Coax or Analog L/R?

You may need to turn off the HD audio OFF and use PCM option instead.

On other issue of srt sub... I tested it works... make sure the name is IDENTICAL and use the srt (lower case) instead of SRT (upper case).

HD Audio Out: Off
Audio out:Encoded Digital
Speakers out:5.1 channel

I changed Audio out to DPCM and the movie worked...audio and video.

I used optical connected to bose lifestyle 28 decoder

can you tell me what is the difference between encoded digital and DPCM?

This is the kind of movie I was trying to play.

Audio: AAC 48000Hz 6ch 4608Kbps [Audio]

Video: MPEG4 Video (H264) 1280x532 23.98fps [Video]
Audio: DTS 48000Hz 6ch [Audio]
Subtitle: Advanced SubStation Alpha [Subtitle]

anyone has experinced the same thing?
