I just got a 1292Q from a Video Corp.(1 day sale pick up only Ebay) with 8 hours on the meter for dirt cheap. As far as they knew it was not started for 8+ years . The shroud was a little beat up lenses perfect. Started it up and it took a while 5 minutes for the blue crt to start up. Long & short The green seems to run to bright after
running it through a Centerstge CS2 looking for 1080p I frequently got the Blue to overcompensate. Filling the screen with individual colors I can see no burn whatsoever. I do not want to touch anything except if it is for a real purpose. It is razor sharp.
Problem is that it will show blue when needed and sometimes every 20 minutes or so it will get a touch brighter and from the looks of the tubes it is only then that it runs properly?
1.Is there some king of 3.5 volt battery that is probably dead not having started for> 8 years
2.Can the meter be not be reset giving me a insanely NEW 1292Q?
3.I get a nice 1080i using A svideo input into the centerstage and a dvi rgb output. How can I input for 1080p? I tried a HDMI-DVI Cable all green?
P.S. Not as Loud as I thought Subwoofer near helps
1. The tubes should come up almost instantly. Something is amiss with the blue.
2. The hour meter is trivial to reset. IIRC, if the PJ was truly new, it would have 50 hours from the factory alignment.
3. Yes, the PJ has a battery, although I don't know the specifics.
I do not want to touch anything except if it is for a real purpose.
4. You will have to readjust EVERYTHING on this PJ if it was moved from its original position. That is the nature of the beast, esp. after sitting for 8 years. Yokes, lenses, convergence. Everything.
Problem is that it will show blue when needed and sometimes every 20 minutes or so it will get a touch brighter and from the looks of the tubes it is only then that it runs properly?
Could be a shorted tube. Could be a number of things. If the 1292 has an ABG function, try disabling this.

I appreciate that. Before getting deep I would like to rule out the easy methods. I have had about 15 crt projectors previously. Of couse I will get deep into this. I will even get Graham's setup DVD to extract all that I can . I would just feel better if i got the blue on board it is not burnt has focus and plenty of light at times. I am currently using a Draper Fixed screen 2.5 gain 60 x 80 and am blown away by the blacks and out of the case sharpness. If I dont screw it up it wil only get better!

Have a look at the neck board. It wouldnt be the first time one has been loose and making the tube go on and off.
I have seen it before.

Great buy
I also saw that on ebay and was thinking there should be more hours on it just from the factory...I guess i was right!
I too have a cs2 and have seen the 1080p file on their resolutions directory, but i have never tried it since I was happy with the picture that i was getting at other resolutions.
From what others have posted here and there , it seems that they have been having problems with that spcific resolution...most were using 1080p/72
I take it you are trying to upconvert...what is your input res into the cs2?
Hope it works out...I will try it with mine and tell you if it works!
Good luck

Right on the money Graham
Thank You Curt Palme who said it was probably a bent pin after zeroing in on the flimsy cable (sony weakness to the c block) a lot of the pins were off I focused on the one that acualty leads into the tube. After I carefully straightened it and after the c-block was snug into the tube WALLAH. I finally got White! The tubes all sing in harmony.
I thought i was going to go with a 120 inch 4:3 screen as it was set from the factory. I am happy to leave it with my Draper M2500 2.5 gain fixed screen. It is sublime Eye Candy.
When I have the time and the patience I will defintely take your Set-up DVD by Graham. A set up dvd for the 1292q How can I pass that up
I can not say enough about Curt Simply The Best!!
Thanks Everyone
Sam:)

I am using a svideo cable I had bad results trying to sneak a DVI-A TO HDMI cable from a Toshiba HD1 player. I got a lg Blu-ray player for my pc but I will have to uograde to Intel D series processor if I want to get the proper speed
So right now I have the cs-2 set to dvi-rgb at 1080i and it is real Sharp great black level and color saturation without pushing anything. I want these tubes to be nice for 5000 hours which I heard is the right amount if you dont amp up the contast color etc.
