Hi,

I was looking into getting a used Paradigm system with a 2-3 year old PDR-10. There is also another PDR-10 for sale that is about 6-7 years old.

Does anyone think there would be any issues running these in a 5.2 or 7.2 setup? Are there versions of the PDR-10 like there are the other monitor speakers from Paradigm?

In another thread someone advised me to look into other subwoofers instead, mainly internet based subwoofer companies like SVS.

Any recommendations as far as their entry level subwoofers go?

I hope to be running a CC-370 center, Monitor 5 fronts, Mini-monitor rears al version 4. It would be for 30% gaming and 70% movies. Rarely any music.

Thank you for your help and advice!

I went from a Paradigm PDR-12 to an SVS PC13 Ultra, wow what a difference.

Keep in mind, the Ultra is not an "entry level sub", but wow, what a difference! SVS has other subs that are in the "entry" level price range, especialy when you compare it to the price of the PDR.

From what I've experienced, the PDR was ok, but you can get better for the money. Paradigm speakers are fantastic (I have Studio's around), but I think what you have been told about interenet direct for subwoofers is correct.

Better "bang" for the buck:
Outlaw LFM
SVS
Epik
AV123 MFW15

There may be others, but these are the subs that I could think of at the top of my head.
