I just picked up a used Infocus SP 4805 - it works great if connected directly to my receiver via compenent, but I'm having trouble with the colors when using cat 5 w/ passive component baluns. The reds are gone & the picture has a greenish tint. What could be causing this?
1. improperly terminating the cat5
2. balun not working properly (cyrex)
other ideas?

Have you verified the CAT-5 connector connections? Sounds like you are missing the red component signal.

If you are able to move your source near the TV temporarily, use the baluns with a pre-made cat5 patch cable. If that clears it up, then it is either bad crimp on your Cat5, or, you are exceding the length and capabilities of passive baluns.

Thanks guys - I've tried changing out the component cables & adding a Ce Labs Model AV400 Amp...still no luck. I'll give the connections another look, then try the suggestion of getting a pre-terminated cable.
Update: tried using a pre-terminated cable to both my projector and tv w/ no luck. Looks like I got ripped on a pair of baluns (thanks ebay). Any suggestions for a reputable (and cheap) replacement?
