I've had this set since Jan. 01, 2003. Two summer's ago the power supply went, and it took two months for a replacement part to come in, but after that it was fine.
Starting this week the image is "flexing". The width of the image comes in a half inch on the left and right side for several seconds, then goes back out again. It will do this a few times per minute.
That's it. No other symptoms. According to the service menu I've logged 8592 hours on the set, which actually seems kind of low.
Ideas?

I know nothing about that particular set, but I do know that that type of horizontal compression on CRTs is a failure somewhere in the horizontal deflection circuitry. You'll need a service manual or someone familiar with Lowe board design to narrow it down.

Thanks for the advise, WJonathan.
This thing is driving me bonkers. Yesterday it was doing the horizontal compression like crazy, but today even after the set was on for 2 hours it didn't do it at all. Bizarre.
Any Aconda people out there ever have this happen to them?

Somtimes my screen will flip flop when it is 4.3 mode, it will go to wide screen then back to 4.3 when watching cable. When i am on componet inputs the screen never changes on my 38" Aconda.
I had 34" 16:9 Panny that would also flip flop sometimes.

The problem persists, and is growing worse. It happens on the DVD input as well as HDTV.
Here is a video of it "flexing" (for lack of a better word).

That could be a solder joint has a crack in it, or loose yoke plug.

My 38" Aconda does not do that. It just changes wide screen formats while on the video 1 thru 3 imputs.

I'm still on the fence about replacing this set. On the one hand, when the image starts to flex and tear at the edges it drives me crazy, but on the other hand the image is so... cinematic when compared to flat panels in my meager price range.
My issue occurs only after the set warms up for a while. As we move into late fall and winter, and because we keep the apartment cool, it can take up to 2 hours for the flexing to manifest itself. (When I first started this thread and it was warmer the flexing began after 30 minutes.)
I'm not a Loewe TV expert, but does it have a cooling fan than runs all the time? That may have failed.
