Hello all,

After doing some forum reading it looks like my issue is a little different than the thread for TV's that won't come on at all but give a diagnostic code.

Here are my symptoms:

1) On initial turn on, there is a loud "Whomp" noise.. sounds like a Degaussing, but it's definitely more noticeable in the past year...

2) After running for between 20-30 minutes, my TV will turn itself off. If I try to tun it back on, it'll stay on for only a minute or so before turning off again.

3) The picture "Flexes" on the left and right... It'll be normal, but then squeeze in about 1/2" on each side and "pop" back to normal.

Any help someone can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

1. Whomp...click in a couple seconds is normal.
2. Check timer settings are not set.
3. Is the flexing on bright scenes or any scenes?

You may have a poor solder joint somewhere.

See if you have fault codes: Press these keys, (pause a moment between each) on your remote with TV off: Display, 5 ,Vol (-), Power. Turn set off to turn off display, after writing them down.

Self-Diagnosis screen will appear in center. Has 7 items, should be 0 in first 6 items if no faults. If faults, might need the same IC chips MCZ3001DB discussed elsewhere. My set needed them, but did blink the standby light.

I'm sorry, I forgot to add the diag screen:

SELF DIAGNOSIS
2: +B OCP 0
3: +B OVP 0
4: VSTOP 0
5: AKB 0
6: LOWB 1
7: H-STOP 0
101: WDT 0

And the timer is not set. It's powering down due to a malfunction somewhere. Also, the flexing is taking place all the time... I think... I'll verify tonight.

Thanks!

LOWB points toward the chips.
