Hey guys,

I'm looking for an inexpensive sub to use in a 2.1 PC setup (with TCA Gizmo and Onix Ref 0.5's). My budget is only around $100 for this sub, because I'm also saving to get a better HT sub to replace my x-sub in the living room (and x-sub will be moved to bedroom 2.1)

I'm obsviously not expecting anything amazing for that price, but I'm looking for smaller footprint and as clean of bass as possible. I don't need high output or deep extension...just something that isn't a boomy mess like the Klipsch promedia sub I previously had.

I was thinking about snagging one of these - Energy ESW-8.

I also came across The Speaker Company's 8" sub:

Any suggestions between the two, or ideas on another sub that falls within budget and size restrictions? TIA.

The amps in these two subs look amazingly similar:

Speaker Company ASW-8

I'm wondering if there is really much difference between these, other than the driver.

Hmmm...no input?

Come on...we all can't afford HSU, SVS, Epik, eD, ect. for our computer setups. :D Help out us folks looking for as good as cheap can get us.

That those amps look similar is no surprise, really. If they have the same specs, there is a good chance they are the same amps. From the same factory in China. I'm sure we could find more subs with a similar amp, too.

Both of those look like decent options. It's only $100.

I saw you recently posted in another thread regarding the risks or downsides of buying used, mainly the lack of a warranty. But at only $100, what is the risk? At that price, I'd look for something used, as well.
