Probably a good cleaning and reseating of all the boards is what's needed.

Here is a link to parts and boards of the Marquee. Reseating of the Focus board and HDM is just pulling it out and putting in in a few times to clean the contacts, you dont have to remove any connections to do this. Just pull up and put back in a few times. http://www.curtpalme.com/ElectrohomeMarquee_Layout1.shtm

Location of FCM and HDM.

on the hdm their is a daughter board that also need to be removed and reconected.

Next on the CLM there are some chips that can be taken out from their
sockets, do one at a time. you will need a IC puller from radio shack to do this.

Clean all chips with some contact cleaner or Denatured Alcohol.

I use DeOxit:

Do one chip at a time and remember how it came out so you put it back in the same way.

repalcing parts randomly gets expensive. Maybe find someone local to you to help out. What city/country are you in?

Hi everybody ..
i am facing a problem with my marquee 8100, which flickers frequentely espicially when heats up . cleaning chips on the control module can fix a lot of problems, just don't pry on them with a screwdriver.
however considering that your problem gets worse wehn the machine warms up it is pointing towards a bad capacitor or multiple cap's somewhere on the machine. My bet would be the small yellow SMT caps on the control module main power input section. they are outlined in Athanasios "marquee upgrade thread". they are C1,C2, C6, C113 and maybe a couple more?

the facory caps used are cheapo's, simply replacing with higher quality would be good.

nashou66 and draganm,

It's amazing how many times you are able to help people with these problems. You two are very patient individuals. You must have answered similar questions many times. I was one of those, too.

Keep up the good work. Without guys like you, crt's would not survive for long.

I wonder if when it heats up some solder joints in any number of areas are expanding and contracting loosing a good connection. there are many many points that can cause this. The only thing would be to pull each board and solder all the through hole Mosfets and transistors on each board its lots of work but these old PJ will eventually need this kind of maintanence. you need to look at these two threads.

Anyone up fro some Marquee Maintenance? (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=209943&perpage=20&pagenumber=1)

And My expansion of Mikes thread.

Marquee Modification and performance enhancement. (http://www.curtpalme.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9608)

send your control module and video input board board to someone for testing.

I have found that there are 2 boards that cause this issue,

The Daughter board on the HDM, Horizontal Deflection Module.
To Fix, Undo the plastic screw in the middle of the HDM-Daughter Board.
Lift the board a little from each corner, until it lifts clear of the pins.
Clean the pins with contact cleaner, scrub with a new toothbrush.
Plus squirt some into the pin socket holes.
Put the Daughter board back onto the HDM main board,
Then Take it off again.
Then put it back on, replace the plastic screw.

Re-install.

The next board, is the Deflection Processor on the CLM, Control board.
This is the longer of the 2 Daughter Boards attached to the CLM main board.
Remove the 4x screws, lift the board off the pin socket.
Clean the pins with contact cleaner, scrub with a new toothbrush.
Plus squirt some into the pin socket holes.
Put the Deflection Processor back on, then take it off again.
Then replace it, replace the 4x screws.

Re-install CLM.

Hope this helps
Cheers
Steve
