View Full Version : Stand recommendation for 50"-60" plasma?
mediahound 10-28-08, 01:00 PM I'm looking for some recommendations for a stand/cabinet for a 50 to 60 inch plasma.
I want to place the plasma tv on the table top and have the center channel speaker on the shelf right below it (it's 8" in height).
Any suggestions?
I just bought and set up a BDI Deploy 9638 (not Deploy Max!) stand, this thing is beautiful, easy to set up, and built like a tank. 4 shelves, top shelf (for TV) will hold up to 200 lbs, middle two are height adjustable. It'll cost you a few bucks more than many other stands, but it's worth the extra $$. I also like the fact that the TV is a bit higher on this stand than on most others. I recommend highly, here's a link to the website: http://www.bdiusa.com/avfurniture/deploy_9638.shtml

Thanks for the info. That one lists for 40-50 inch TVs but I'm looking for one for a 58 inch TV.
Plasma LCD stands are every where now.. Ikea, Walmart, Costco.. its all depends on budget and style now.
I say screw the stand and mount it to the wall!!
taxman48 11-11-08, 09:00 PM try www.wisebanana.com.. I got a Bush stand there to fit my 52" LCD. It had a shelf for my center speaker also..Here is the stand that I purchased for my tv: http://www.wisebanana.com/bush-vs11560-03-rosebud-cherry-segments-collection-tv-stand-58.html
Although the website says 40-50 in. TV, The BDI Deploy stand I told you about above will easily hold a 60 in. TV, top shelf capacity is 200 lbs. and the shelf is more than large enough for the tv base. The frame is the most solid frame I've ever seen on any AV stand. They had a 58 in. plasma and three pieces of McIntosh gear on the shelves(amp weighed 100 lbs. on bottom shelf) in the store display where I got it and it was perfectly stable and solid. I'm telling you, you won't find anything more solid than this. I did a lot of looking around and this was far superior to anything I saw , including a bunch of stuff by Bush, Bello(which was my second choice), and numerous others. I looked at a number of stands that were supposedly specified for larger (50-60 in. tv's), and if I had something in the 60 in. range this is one of the only stands I would consider. If you could see one in person, you'd know what I mean.

I have their Synergy Triple model in Cherry and Black with a Center Drawer option and Mesh side doors. Here's what it looks like holding my JVC 70" LCoS set:

All told, what did it cost you?

It was about $1,700 or so as I recall. But it fit my needs EXACTLY. I didn't have to make any compromises in where and how I placed my gear and how easy it was to connect together. EVERY sub-$1,000 stand I looked at would have required me to either sell my large center speaker, or arrange the other gear in an unacceptable manner.
