Does anyone remember when Phillips announced their wireless HDMI solution back in January 07. It was designated SWW1800 and was to be available later that year for like $300.00. I called Phillips and couldnt find anyone who knew anything about it.

Like other announced wireless HDMI devices it's still "Coming Soon".

Apparently transmitting uncompressed digital HD signals wirelessly without dropouts is more difficult than the manufacturers thought. And I suspect when they do finally arrive, they'll be a lot more than $300. Don't hold your breath...

Carl, you're exactly right- all the others I have seen write-ups on have been priced thru the roof. Hopefully someone will have an affordable model- I am in desperate need of this technology in my basement with finished ceiling.

You might consider a fiber optic approach such as by Owlink http://www.digitalconnection.com/products/Cables/fo2800.asp. It's somewhat pricey, but it allows long range transmission of an HDMI signal using a transparent, nearly invisible, fish line type optic cable.

Edit: It's also available at Amazon http://www.amazon.com/OWLink-FO2800-Definition-Connectivity-System/dp/B000WTO2BW for less.

Thanks Carl....this is a great solution to my situation. We finished the basement about 4 years ago and I failed to plan for the future by only running a component cable in the ceiling for the projector. I have wrestled for the last 2 years on how to get an HDMI cable from my equipment to the projector. Thanks again

Gefen does offer a 30' line-of-sight wireless HDMI extender for $999 on their website http://www.gefen.com/kvm/dproduct.jsp?prod_id=4318. But it's "pre-order" so it's apparently not actually available yet (but soon).
