After painting, I'll be ready to buy/install some solid doors for my HT.

The entrance from the stairs to the HT could be a communicating door(s) that go from a 2x6" load bearing wall, 1.5" air space, and then a 2x4" 16OC wall with 2 x 1/2" DD/GG on the HT side.

The whole double wall configuration is about 12" deep. The door openning I framed on the HT side is 34" wide, and is fairly plumb. The load bearing wall has an openning of about 32-33" wide, (about, because it wasn't framed very well, and the openning is narrower at the floor than at the top.

Easiest/ quickest solution for me would be to have a pair of 30" S&S doors in that openning.... Just wondering if 30" is 'doable' for most furniture.

Wow, you almost described exactly my door situation on my HT. I contacted Roman (one of the guys active in this forum as a supplier of Berkline seating) and he confirmed for me that I could indeed get Berklines through a 30" door at the end of a 3' wide hallway.

In case you need this info, I also just did the research on an automatic door threshold for a 30" door. The first few I got referred to by other forum members did not go down to 30". The Pemko 434_RL (32" version) is the one I picked - they can be trimmed up to 2" giving the capability of a 30" automatic threshold with a neoprene foam triple fan seal.

Berks (separated) will fit tightly through a 30 inch door without any problems. Just make sure to not be in a hurry or you'll scuff the chairs and the door frame.

I got my seats down the stairs of a 28" opening, so I'd say you're good.
