It's like custom soundtracks; the support is built into the firmware now so devs don't have to do much to enable the feature. But it is still up to the devs to include it or not.

Yeah it's still on a developers level, so I'm only hoping for future 1st party titles.

I still don't get what button they will use to capture, if I'm not mistaken there have been a few games with capture that used a keyboard.

I think the dev can just assign a capture button in their control scheme, or they may want you to pause it first. It's all up to the devs. Battlefield has a screen capture function, you just hit one of the d-pad buttons to take a shot.

Motorstorm: Pacific Rift has it. Just pause the game and you can take some nice shots and then export them via XMB.

is there some sort of limitation on the ps3 that is requiring the developers to enable it? why does the 360 have custom music enabled for every game?

I wonder if the XMB OS just wasn't designed well to multitask.

Microsoft has a patent on the custom-music-through-the-OS thing. So the best Sony can do is enable the feature and let the devs use it or not.
