might have been better if they spread em through the year instead of the famine-feast.

No, it sucks. Too many good titles and not enough time to play them all:eek:

I sort of agree but on the upside hopefully the prices will have dropped by the time I finally get around to some of them.

My summer was packed with quality PSN titles to play. Really, it's just been a good year overall. These last three months are the chocolate-dipped cherry on top.

As long as these titles don't dissapoint (like an old standby franchise that was developed by a company that shares a name with an old Dodge engine and was turned to poopy and happens to be in a run on sentence that's not even a sentence because it's surrounded by quotation marks). :)

I think it is. I don't ever remember wanting (and getting) so many great games in one year, let alone over a few months. Recently, I've gotten: Madden 09, NBA Live 09, Rock Band 2, Saints Row 2, Wipeout HD, Midnight Club LA, Tiger Woods 09, Little Big Planet, Dead Space, Fallout 3... (Chairman adds up the $$$$) Ugh, I think I'm gonna throw up.

So far, so good for me.

I've picked up: FarCry 2, Dead Space, NBA2K9, and LBP. Anything but disappointing.

Currently resisting to order: Resistance 2, Mirror's Edge, FallOut 3, and RockBand 2.

Best and worst. I play Wow, so in between that and getting LBP two days ago and playing it, the R2 beta, Dead space I rented two weeks ago and haven't had time to touch it since, I don't see me getting to try Fallout, Farcrym, etc. I already decided forget Motorstorm 2 as I didn't finish other racers I downloaded, GTP5 and I own Motorstorm 1, 2 copies, and never even got close to finishing it.

It isn't just about money, but time and I would guess that there will only be so many of some major titles sold and new titles will keep coming out that we might see many titles discounted fast. Maybe it would force games to 50.00 upon new release. In fact 40.00 would probably move a lot of titles upon release. So the devs might have to make 100k a year instead of 150k+ a year, welcome to the new economy and heavy competition in the gaming world. We really should see some good prices at xmas.

They're not going to discount releases, but it works the same way. Like you said, with so much coming out, I can play SOCOM and LBP while I wait for Fallout to start showing up in the used bin. By the time I get around to Resistance, Farcry, Valkyria, etc.. they should be half price.

Something similar here. I'll be playing fallout & resistance. by the time I get around to the other releases, they're all cheaper.

BTW good luck with waiting until R2 is half price. IIRC, R1 was still selling at $60 for over a year after it's initial release.

Used.. Discount - 25% coupon - 10% edge = halfish price :p

haha, pretty good. I'm guessing farcry & valkyria will drop in price pretty fast though. Looking forward to picking up valkyria. :)

I totally agree. I feel completely OVERWHELMED with games right now and I don't know what to rent/play first. LBP is obviously the highlight of this period, but I can't remember a time where such a ridiculously large number of A+ titles came out in such a short period of time.

Yeah, it's kind of ridiculous when I have to sit there staring at my cabinet wondering what awesome game I want to play the most.

I got a chuckle out of that, life is tough huh?

Several factors they I think are different now.

There were few titles anyone wanted besides R1 when the PS3 was first released. Even a year later there still wasn't many other great titles. I don't have to tell you how many titles are out and coming out that are good FPS and will compete with and take away sales from R2. One the other hand there are way more PS3's now than a year ago.

R2 to really sell will have to do way more than R1 to get people to buy it. The 60 player MP and coop will lend to that and be the selling points. Motorstorm 2 is a title that I think will suffer from the being the same scenario, so R2 needs to show us the money.

The economy sucks. People are not spending money on much of anything except for the few nut jobs like us on AVS. :D

It's the "greatest fall/spring release ever" in the sense that there are a large number of big/good games being released in a short period of time. What sucks is that a bunch will slip through the cracks. Most people don't have the time (and money in some cases) to play several games at once. Honestly, there are so many games out there right now that I want to try, and my time is so limited, that I'm skipping games I would have bought 100% if they released them two months ago.

On the one hand I like having a bunch of options, but on the other, I would much rather have them spaced out so I feel as though I can get them all. I'd rather have a single big release every 2 months for a year, than a half dozen released within a month and a half.

Is this the greatest fall/spring release ever? I'm too busy playing great new games to think about it!

I will be doing my part by buying Motorstorm Pacific Rift and Little Big Planet.

Actually, with the economy sucking, I would suspect people will turn to videogames as something they can stay at home and enjoy instead of expensive travel, expensive movies, expensive dining out, etc. You can get a multiplayer game that will last you months for around what it costs to fill your vehicle's tank.

Right.. traditionally, entertainment revenues go up when the economy is slumping. People want to stay home and take their mind off their troubles.

It seems that every single year people think it's the best year ever in gaming. Remember last year with everybody talking about Halo 3, Bioshock, Uncharted, Assassin's Creed, Mario Galaxy, etc, etc. People were saying that 2007 was maybe the best year ever in video games. I think it was on the cover of a EGM issue as well.

Personally, I think any talk like "such and such year is the best year ever" is pretty short sighted. There have been many great years in the history of gaming. We just have a habit of only thinking about the most recent years.

A year later we can say last year wasn't the best year, but even then I don't remember many on here in this forum saying it was the best ever. We were all looking forward to and talking about this year.

And I do think at this point in time with this many games and this much quality games for nex gen consoles this is the best yet and I do not ever remember being this excited and or overwhelmed by titles even with the PS2.

It may not be the best ever for all consoles, but for the PS3 it is and it maybe the best for PS systems to date.

Indeed, the PS3's offerings is kicking ass this season :D Definitely the best season this generation so far. God of War 3 and Uncharted 2 hitting together wouldn't be too bad next year.

I doubt I'm ever going to catch up with all the titles at this rate but it is going to be fun trying ;)
