I recently bought a new HDTV and went to pick up a HDTV box from comcast for it. I came home, hooked it all up and then called the number to get the activation signal sent to the box. Apparently the first few were rejected by my box for some reason then finally on the third try it worked; however, still no picture on every channel, only the bottom menu says "to be announced" and a box saying "one moment please this channel should be available shortly".

I had to go to work anyway and tried again when I got home, tried unplugging the box but no luck. Called again and had the signal sent but still nothing.

Is there anything else i could try that might fix this problem. I know i can have tech come out (3days from now)... but comcast wants me to pay 20$ for the call and i wanted to avoid that if i can, especially since I've done everything correctly that i was supposed to do, i kinda of feel like they should troubleshoot it for free.

Thanks for any help

They obviously have something wrong with the box. Until the tech shows up plug the coax directly into the TV and scan for digital cable chs. You should get some HD chs, mostly to locals.

After the tech fixes the problem, then call directly to the customer retention specialist at Comcast and threaten to leave is they don't credit the house call - they will.
