View Full Version : HP 5880n TV - Need Bulb
schheda 11-01-08, 10:23 PM Hello,
Well it's time to replace the bulb for my HP MD5880n. The user's manual says that the bulb model is the L2114A. But when I search online I see the L2114A as well as the L2114 and L2114-80001.
Does anyone know the difference between these 3? Which one do I need?
Thanks in advance,
SC
DPlettner 11-02-08, 12:08 AM Looks like the lamp is only available from HP Parts for $332.49. Go here:
http://h20141.www2.hp.com/hpparts/
and search for "L2114-80001".
Alternatively, you can get a used one a lot cheaper from this guy:

schheda 11-02-08, 11:15 AM Thanks I saw that, but do you know what the difference is between this L2114-80001 and the L2114A that the manual reccomends? thanks.
DPlettner 11-02-08, 01:49 PM I think it is just a different part number used by HP Shopping versus HP Parts. Both are HP MDTV L-5 150W lamps.
If you go to HPShopping.com and search for L2114A, you do get a hit, and it says:
This item is available exclusively through the HP Parts Store as part # L2114-80001. You can also reach the HP Parts Store at 1 (800) 227-8164.
If you go to HP Parts and search for L2114A, it says:
Please place your order at hpshopping.com. This product is not orderable on the HP Parts Store.
So it is the same lamp.

I think difference is the lamp only vs. the lamp with housing (easist installation and no need to handle the bulb ) I have 2 remaining for sale.

DPlettner 08-15-09, 12:02 PM You might want to try the main thread:

Some people might be subscribed to that thread and get an email when you post.
You can buy a bare bulb to install in your lamp housing for $231, but results are mixed, as discussed in the last 5-10 pages of the thread.

There is also a company called Relampit.com that will take you old housing and replace the bulb.

PASSPORT 01-13-10, 03:33 PM Apparently it's difficult to find the SHP73 (L2114A) LAMP ONLY on ebay. The one that I had mentioned was the only one that I found. I was just trying to be helpful. I'm not sure of the intent of your response, but that was my reason for the post.
Jesse31 01-14-10, 10:39 AM I found several "lamp only" ones on ebay and a google search showed several places that sell the lamp only...there was no intent, just information

So you can show me another shp73 l2114a "lamp only" auction on ebay?? That was your quote above.
As for a google search, which I never mentioned anything about. Most of the places that lamp is out of stock or they will try to sell you the shp70 lamp which is not totally correct.
I didn't post to start a pissing match I was just trying to help forum users find a lamp and save themselves some money. I just felt that your inital post attempted to make me look stupid. Forgive me if im wrong. This will be my last post on this topic. Have a nice day.
Jesse31 01-15-10, 09:42 AM I was responding to a couple of people's posts further up in the thread..none of which was you...relax
