I have the Scientific Atlanta 4250 HDC cable box and have been using S-video for an old tv and have the component connected to a projector. This has worked great for some time now.

I got an HDTV and want to run HDTV to the LCD and keep the component running to the projector. It seems that when I connect the HDMI cable the component output turns off from the cable box.

Any suggestions? Is there a way to at least change which input is active to keep both connected at the same time like I did with s-video and component?

Thank you!

It's a limitation of that particular cable box, both the HD outputs can't be active at the same time. Does the component output go active when you turn the TV off?

Unfortunately the component does not come back when the HDMI tv is turned off. If it did that would be great. I have to unplug the HDMI cable from the cable box.

Any what to force one input?

Thank you!
