Hello,

I have a 5 year old Hitachi 65SWX20B which needs to have the convergence fixed. I bought the chips after doing a lot of research, but am getting cold feet when it comes to doing the repair/replacement myself.

I called several of the authorized service centers per Hitachi's web site, but am not getting a very good response. I haven't found anyone who sounds very confident or experienced in this kind of repair. Nobody will say "yes, I know what you're talking about, we have fixed this before, trust us". It's more like, "um, well, we'll come out for $100, to um, look at the issue, then we'll quote you how much for a repair."

So ... I'm reaching out to this forum ... can anyone recommend somebody in the Washington, DC/MD/VA area to repair this set?

If this isn't the proper forum to reply, the please feel free to send me a private email at jons_junk@hotmail.com.

Thanks.

So, do I pay up to $500 to somebody who I have no confidence in (and exhibits no confidence in themselves), or do I put the money towards a new flat panel?

I'd say you can trust just about any repair tech, who's been on the job for more than a month, to do a convergence job. It's a low difficulty repair for a technician. Don't pay anyone more than $400. Or do it yourself see link in my signature-
