I've recently installed a Cav 6.6 with compoint intercom, and have been very happy. However, I've just gotten around to hooking up the abus subzone in the bathroom, and can get barely any volume out of the abus (not enough to hear clearly), even with the trim turned all the way up. I have a compoint intercom in the bathroom, and the volume on it is just fine. I hooked the speaker (dual voice coil) up to another system, and it works fine. Anybody have any thoughts? I've tried two different power supplies for the abus, and there's no difference.
TIA -

I'd suggest wiring the A-Bus keypad with a short test cable directly into the back of the CAV6.6. You'll also need some speakers that you can use to test.
If you experience the same problem with this test configuration it sounds like you may have a bad A-bus keypad?
Is this you only subzone? Also try moving to another A-Bus port if you haven't already...
Does the speaker wire pass thru the compoint intercom? Try hooking the abus directly to the speaker. I've had a few bad compoint keypads that didnt pass volume correctly.
Always remember to turn off the power on the compoint when playing with the wires. I learned the hard way
Are your speakers connected to the speaker output or the line output of the ABUS keypad? It's an easy mistake. Ask me how I know.

depending on the model of A-bus there is a gain on the backside of it. Check that you have them adjusted appropriately
I did check the gain, and I had it turned all the way up. No difference.
I ended up taking the compoint keypad out, and was going to move it to another location where I need it more. (easier -read less expensive- than adding another hub right now.) When I did that, the abus zone worked just fine.
I hadn't thought about it not passing the volume correctly; I had assumed that if I could hear the intercom over the speakers, the compoint keypad was working fine. Not so?

Depending on when your Abus keypad was manufactured, Russound had a bunch slip out from the factory with the LINE OUT and SPKR OUT screw terminals reversed.
It sounds like you may have the speakers connected to the LINE OUT screws by mistake (factory's, not yours!)
I got burned by this a few months ago - Installed a new zone on a clients existing ABus system, installed the wall plate, and then fired it up. No sound -went crazy checking all of the connections, then after scratching my head a few moments, I recalled reading a tech bulletin on the Russound website documenting this exact issue. Sure enough - I re-wired the speakers to the other set of L/R terminals, and it was good to go.
Give it a check.....

Thanks for the tip; I saw that bulletin and had checked that, and mine wasn't one of the ones that was reversed. I think that's confirmed by the fact that it works fine now that I've got the compoint out.
I'd be interested to see if anyone else has had a problem with a compoint/abus keypad combination.
