hello all,

been lurking here for a while figured i would be brave and make my own post now i need some help :) so thanks in advance for any.

My problem (if u can call it that)
is im looking for a very simple way for my family to playback all the content we have.

I have a cinema room with a ps3, hddvd player and a multiregion dvd player connected to an amp and then to a nice TV.

i also have a smaller setup upstairs with a tv and another hddvd player.

I wish to rip all my Blu ray, hddvds and dvds to a central storage server (possibly a qnap NAS)
i then need a device that can playback these self made rips

now i know something like a popcorn hour will do this but i have some concerns.

1. how do i go about ripping my dvds/hdvds/blu rays? i assume i need to purchase a dvd rom a hddvd rom and a blu ray rom (i assume rom is the right word) for my pc?

2. i then need some software that will rip it all for me in a format that my chosen media player can understand. Im not fussed about extras / subs etc.

3. storage just how big do you think a ripped hddvd / blu ray will be as obviously i need somewhere to store them

Thats my master plan anyway chuck all my media on a central store - purchase some media players that can play back this media ..
granted its some work to rip all the discs but worth it i think.

Any ideas? thoughts? comments?

Thanks in advance.
