Folks,

Since I had many questions related to 4 groups offered here for immediate shipment I will summarize the differences:

1. 13217 is mid sized recliner with the 41" high back and curved armrests. It has chase design where footrest is continuation of the seat. It is only available in BLACK leather/vinyl combo with the power recline and only in curved configurations. This recliner would be at the lowest price point since it is a CLOSEOUT.

2. 13174 - is basically 45090 that Berkline makes in China. It seats just a bit lower and has 3/4" narrower armrest. Other than that it is the same chair. It has chase design and comfortable and cushy.

3. 13175 - very comfortable recliner with the narrower footprint and 42.5" high back. This one works well in the smaller room where you need to fit as many seats as you can. It also has nice head support. It is not a chase, it is a comfort rest. The footrest is a separate plate. When you recline there is another plate that comes up to close the gap between the seat and the footrest.

4. 12000 - modern European looking recliner with nice head support and 42" high back. It seats a bit firmer and had a firmer back. It is a chase and has rounded armrest.

All 4 groups will be a good fit for the folks that are between 5'10" and 6'2" tall.

Folks,

Regarding the blankets:

All blankets will be ordered and shipped after the power buy is over. We needed to do it that way, so you could choose your color(s).

We will submit all the orders to the manufacturer at the end of the power buy. The blankets will be drop ship to you then.

Thanks!

Other than color how do you like them?

elmalloc
11-21-08, 11:41 AM
For 6 feet and below they are great. My brother in law is taller yet he doesn't mind either - but I don't think he gets a head rest at his height.

Not much to complain about. I will say I wish I went with another color, and I wish I went curved.

I would honestly think about trading them for the same seats in red + $1000! Probably very unfeasible trade due to the difficulties of even swapping - but shows you how badly I want red leather.

I'm speaking about MODEL 088 too (not the colour 088).

I am 6' tall guy, and I find the 088s to be too small for me. Depth of the seat is not sufficient for me, but the most important the back is too low (38.5") and provide no head support. I believe that these recliners would be best fit for people who are 5'8" or smaller.

elmalloc,

I think it would be easier for you to sell your recliners and get new ones in the color you wanted.

Roman,

Do you have any suggestions on how to sell it other than craigs list though?

Difficult to package them up, would have to be for local pickup in my area...

I can probably give a very good deal, though...for anyone looking for a year old set of 4 berk 088s...I just want them in red!

I just need to state publicly how helpful Roman is with the ordering of these loungers. I had numerous questions which he has been great at answering, and earlier this week I placed an order only to change my mind to a different style/color. Roman has been very cooperative to make sure I get what I want and to provide as much information as possible to help make an informed decision.

Can anyone direct me to some good threads/resources on HOW to pick HT seating?
That is, what makes a HT seat good?

I can imagine this is a subset:

Features to look at:
- basic construction - wood, springs, etc.
- mechanism - motor (quality) vs. manual
- warranty
- aesthetics
- cushions
- covering (leather vs others)

Thanks.

Sdallnct,

The only two other Berkline style groups that have narrow footprint are 45004 and 13175, but both these are slightly wider than the 45088s.

The Private Collection Ovations (not shown yet, but will be offered soon) is similar to the Berkline 088 in terms of footprint, and it has taller back - about 40" high. These will be available sometime in March/April.

I'm in the same boat as you at 6'2" and 370lbs and looking for HT seating and I'm reluctant to order site unseen. I would hate to order only to find out that the site are too small for me width wise. Has anyone gone to the warehouse yet to try out the private collection seats? just curious about what they thought about them

I was up there about 2 weeks ago. I sat in both of the private collection's as well as the 13175's and 12000's. All of the chairs are nice. I decided to get the 12000's. My reasoning was that I like a softer chair and the private collection was not as soft as I like. Now I must say that they were in a warehouse that was cold so I'm sure the leather was a little stiff. I think between being in a temperature controled theater and giving a short amount of break in time they will be great chairs. I liked the quality of them and the wireless buttkickers and hidden cup holders are a plus. For myself though, I thought that I didn't need to spend the extra money on the private collection to be satified. The 12000's will be just fine for me but I think anyone getting the private collection would be extermely satisfied also.

I hope you are right about the private collection leather just being stiff because it's cold in the warehouse because I was hoping for it to be softer than the 12000 personally

A couple of questions for RSH

1) How come the only model #s I see on Berkline's web site start with 45xxx? I don't see anything that starts with 1xxxx

2) I am in NJ, does your location have the various models to try out? Hopefully I'll be looking for theatre seating late next year:D

3) I am 6'3' and my fiance is 5'3". What do you think the best seating/back height for us?

4) Is it possible to fit 4 seats (w/cupholders) in a room that is only 12' 6" wide? Enough to walk around the chairs?

Bee....In my opinion I did feel that the Private Collection was stiffer then the 12000's. Like I said though, it was about 40 degrees in the warehouse. I took my jacket off so I could "feel" the chairs better and I was freezing my a$$ off. I only sat in them for about 10 seconds because I felt the 12000's we fine for me. They are all great chairs and you could have a better person to deal with then Roman. I bought 7 of the 12000's from him. Where in NJ do you live if I may ask?

Mike

I live in westchester new york, and I really did like the 12000's alot because of the looks and because it has great head support for when you recline. The 12000's were a little stiff for my preference, but many will actually enjoy this. The private collection is suppose to be very comfertable and soft, so it's strange that you found them stiffer, but I'm sure your right about it being in a cold room causing it to be stiff.

Larry,

1) How come the only model #s I see on Berkline's web site start with 45xxx? I don't see anything that starts with 1xxxx
The Berkline only shows the models they make in US. All the models that start with "1" are imported groups and not available for customer orders, but to directly answer your question - "why?" - I do not know. The Berkline is the only one who can answer it.

2) I am in NJ, does your location have the various models to try out? Hopefully I'll be looking for theatre seating late next year
Yes, currently I have 7 different models on the floor in the warehouse: Berkline 12000, 13174, 13175, 13217 and Private Collection Seating Main Street, Santa Fe and Ovations. Two more Berkline groups - 12003 and 12006 are coming in February.

3) I am 6'3' and my fiancé is 5'3". What do you think the best seating/back height for us?
Tough situation - someone will have to sacrifice. If you go with the lower back you may not have adequate head support, but if you go with the taller back, your fiancé will have the surround sound blocked by the back of the recliner.

4) Is it possible to fit 4 seats (w/cupholders) in a room that is only 12' 6" wide? Enough to walk around the chairs?
Yes, if you choose to do one isle only. You may also want to consider chair/loveseat/chair configuration.

1) Ok I understand, the overseas models I assume are just as good as the domestic model right? Quality, leather, etc.?

2) Cool  I'll have to stop by when the theatre planning starts rolling around (Maybe late summer). Where are you guys located?

3) Yeah that is tough, I don't see her growing anytime soon. Guess we'll have to just test them out

4) I was thinking of having 2 rows. 1st row would be 4 seats 5 cup holders (150") and 2nd row would be chair/loveseat/chair (138") (Maybe it would be better to do the love seats up front) Its going to be real tight, I'll have to wait till we have the framing and sheetrock up to have the official width.

Hey Mike,

I just wanted to say thanks for your quick review of the Private collection, as another that has been awaiting these to come in and buying sight unseen, I am still a bit nervous, as if Roman doesn't come through for me, the wife is going to be pissed. It is interesting to hear about the leather being not quite as soft, however, I have to agree, if they are sitting in 40 degree weather, as opposed to a nice warm theater room, they would have to be a bit stiffer. Living in NC, I can't go stop by the warehouse to check them out, so if anybody else has been by to see the Santa Fe's, I would love to hear another review.

Thanks again Mike,

Chad

Folks,

The Private Collection Seating amps are arriving today. They will be installed right away, and we will start shipping the recliners by the end of this week/beginning of next one.

Regarding the softness of the recliners: it is not much about the leather (the leather on Santa Fe is top grain – very good quality). While very cold weather can contribute a little I believe this is about the foam used in the chairs. The Main Street has a quite soft seat and a back. It is very similar to Berkline 45187 recliner, which is actually a bit softer than 12000. The Santa Fe does have a bit firmer seat because of additional cushion on top of it. I actually consider this to be a good thing, because IMHO in the long run when the cushion gives a little the soft seat will get even softer, and the firmer one will be just about right.

As we all know comfort is such a personal factor that no two people will feel the same...

Roman - I'll call you tomorrow, but am still not sure where we stood on making a 5 unit Main Street (chair-3 piece couch-chair) We had discussed waiting until shipment #2 for matching pre-made armless section vs removing an arm and ordering now. Either way I'll put a deposit down now.

Injun,

In BROWN I have

1. one set of 3 straight IOIOIOI
2. two sets of 4 straight IOIOIOIOI
3. two sets of 4 straight with the loveseat IOIOOIOI
4. one set of 3 curved IOVOVOI
5. 2 sets of 4 curved IOVOVOVOI
6. 2 sets of 4 curved with the loveseat IOVOOVOI

The IOIOOIOI cannot be rearanged into IOOIIOOI because the Berkline does not offer a left facing arm recliner, "IO" - does not exists on any imported groups.

Send me an email - sales@rtheaters.com and I will reply with the Hi-Rez picture of the leather swatch. Sorry, I do tno have the picture of these recliners in BROWN leather.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I recently (just before this powerbuy started) purchased 7 Berkline 12000 seats from Roman and I am extremely happy with the seats. Roman was very helpful in answering all my questions and provided great service... Thanks Roman...

Here are some pics showing the 7 seats:

Roman was able to pull together a straight 4 black in the new Santa Fe. Having found the thread at the last minute my family appreciates the effort Roman made to locate the 1 extra piece from the manufacturer needed to pull the set together. I'll post some photo's and review once we get them setup. Now to find some foam bags for "front" row youth seating. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Folks,

A couple of things:

1. Blankets were ordered yesterday and will be shipped in about 2 weeks directly from the manufacturer to you.
2. Drawing will be done this weekend and I will announce the winners on Monday in a separate thread.

Good Luck and Happy Holidays!

I ordered three Berkline 13217 chairs from Roman and a week later, I have them in my garage. I will be waiting until Christmas to enjoy them but I had to say how great the transaction went with Roman. As the commercial states, "I just saved a bunch of money by switching to Roman" :D $900 to be exact. I was skeptical initially, but now I plan on getting all of my home theater equipment from Roman.

Not yet! My theater isn't done yet, a couple of more weeks. I did take two out of the box today and brought them down into the theater. I needed to set them up to check my riser height. Sad to say I need to find about 3" of riser somewhere :) I brought my 2 1/2 y/o daugher down there tonight to show her "Big Shrek". I reclined back most of the way, she sat on my lap, and I fell asleep. I can see that the only problem with these seats is going to be staying awake for the moving! They are very very comfortable. If you are going to the warehouse on Monday just an FYI, they close for lunch between 12:00-1:00, I got there at 12:20 :(

Aqua, Did you get your seat? What do you think?

Yes! Set them up last night.

LOVE THEM. I was unsure if anything would be more comfortable than the Lazboy I now have in my back row. During the movie last night I thought I would go sit back there for a minute to see the difference. After about 30 seconds I was back in the front on the 12000's!!!!

As I said, my theater isn't done yet, but I did make it "usable" for Christmas. Everyone that sat in the seats loved them. I lost my brother-in-law and nephews down there for 2 hours! I am nothing but thrilled about the purchase. Aqua, sounds like you are too. Now I have to finish the theater. Hopefully within the next 3 weeks.

Mike,

I am not sure that you will find a place where you can get answers to all your questions, but if you call me, I can at least offer you my personal opinion and answer some if not all the questions.
Roman,

I am 6 ft 5 240 lbs. Do you have any particular brand/model HT chair for me to look into to? I am extremely impressed with the level of support you give (and get).

Thanks

Wes

Hi Roman,

We're about 4-6 weeks out from completing our new home, which includes a seperate theater room. We will be in the market for 4 recliners, and 1-2 love seats of some kind (total seating for about 8 is what I'm shooting for). Needs to be 'very' comfortable, and 'has' to be available in navy blue (leather or leathr/vinyl combo).

Suggestions?

Kevin
