Which channels can you receive? Many main channels aren't HD, including all the local sub-channels.
If your antenna favors VHF, has broken elements and/or old cabling, then upgrades should help considerably.
I only get channel 4 HD, and ion and KOCE in hd, and a few other HD channels, I owuld love ABC, CBS...or more. None of the local channel come in analog at all well.
Check your connections, cableing and antenna position (aim). Most problems I've found with the friends I've helped were cable and distribution problems.
With the signals you have in your area it shouldn't take much of an antenna to receive a lot of stations especially if it's mounted outdoors.

I messed with the aim, and got a couple more, but still not as many as I thought. I have on splice on the cable run, only because the cable I bought was too small, will that make a big difference?
I have an old antenna in the attic I may try, at least it has been out of the elements it might work better...

combo VHF/UHF. Pointed in the right direction...

A splice? What kind of cabling is it? If it is old twin-lead with a splice, that would explain a lot.
Had to use a transformer from the antenna to the coax, and then had to use a female to female feed thru adpater to give me a little more length on the cable...
Falcon_77 11-04-08, 03:51 PM Ok. So, the cabling is all new then? (RG6, hopefully)
If so, it looks like it's time for a new antenna.
Yes it all new...
any recommendations on a new antenna, cheap preferably?!
Falcon_77 11-04-08, 08:17 PM See the CM2016, above. You have strong signals, so you shouldn't need much more and unless you are trying to get FM radio on your antenna as well, there is no need for Low-VHF, locally.
I just realized that its probably not RG6 but rahter rg 59. since I bought the cable at walmart. Huge difference? its a 60 foot run...
Falcon_77 11-05-08, 03:24 PM RG6 is preferred, but I doubt it's a huge difference.
What TV/Tuner are you using?
Can you take a picture of your antenna?
its a samsung 40a550. I am gonna check everything again today and see what happens. If I don't get more channels then I will get a new antenna
I GOT IT I GOT IT!! I made the mistake of reusing a piece of old cable to make up the missing length. Changed that out and wholla, I get all the locals and more!!!
THANKS!!!!
Falcon_77 11-05-08, 09:38 PM Glad to hear you got it working.
Can you tell us more about the old piece of cable? Was it also RG59? Was it damaged, etc?
OLD cracked piece of ^%$!!
Thanks again. I watched CSI with the wife last night. She said I really can't tell a difference. So I switched to the dish network feed. "OH yeah now I can tell" It looked great and I had DD!!
